Eli's elevation should serve as lesson to impatient Dolphins

Can Beck ascend in a manner similar to Eli Manning?

No fan wants to hear it... but the bottom line.. it takes on average 3-4 years to develop into a highly productive NFL QB... are there exceptions... sure... it's why they're called exceptions....

Beck's age makes it so that process needs to go on double time, imo.

Eli played 3 good games after a season of throwing the most INTs in the NFL and
three seasons of sub par play.

This bandwagon is a little premature.

Sorry i just dont see anything in him.I think he could become a good back up down the line.

My concern with Beck is his age. He's gonna be 27 this year and should have been in the league 5 years ago. If he's ever successful, it's probably gonna be for about a five or 6 year span and then we're back to square 1 looking for another QB. As far as comparing him to Eli, he wasn't a #1 overall pick like Eli was.

Eli is the first QB in NFL history to not throw an interception during the playoffs.. Also, the Giants are the first team in NFL history to go to a superbowl with a regular season losing hime record 3-5 and the first team in nfl history to win 10 straight road games. Eli is doing a great job of not making mistakes and managing the game to perfection. He is also benefitting from not having Shockey there

It's far too early to judge Beck. He played with a crap supporting cast when he had a chance and he had no blocking. He's lucky he's not paralyzed after blow assignments by David Martin got him clobbered

The Dolphin QB issues go back a very long time... back to Shula in fact... the franchise has never placed an emphasis on developing the QB position... even DM wasn't developed... he just happened to be the real deal right out of the box... the definition of exception...

IMO... we need to draft a QB again this year... and if the value and player are right... maybe with one of the current picks in the first 64...

did you bother to read the column?

You're basing your opinion on four games. That's why you "don't see anything in him."

Had the Giants had your impatient mentality, they likely would not be playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

are you kidding? I only had to look at one QB to prove this wrong. Tom Brady, 2004. 5 TD's 0 INT's.

Losing record at home is a credit to Eli?? and you only have to go back as far as week 17 to where Eli's mistakes were hurting the Giants.

He's had a nice little run, and it was welled timed....but there is no certainty that he's not going to go back to being the same old Eli.....and I think that you'll see that in the Super Bowl. I don't want John Beck to be like Eli....I want him to be better!

definitely but as fans we want to have a goo quaterback today. it gets us mad to have to wait to win. i mean we could really hurt this kid if we put him in there too early. when he started this past season he had one hell of an arm but it was really obvious how nervous he was he would bounce at every snap and the moment he commited a fumble he held on to the ball too long but by just giving him a few shots as a backup and giving him a GOOD mentor he can be the future of this franchise but something that really concerns me is his age and the waiting time i mean once he gets to his prime how long will he be good for?:woot:

Don't think Eli is a good QB. The Giants won against two teams that beat themselves.

3 games that is all he played and everyone is callng him a franchise QB.... he threw the most INT for a starting qb and in 3 of the games all he did was game management. the teams he played were not strong or playing good football in december.

but eli has 1 advantage over beck he is 26 yr old now and in a weak NFC his defence and running game will give me a better chance.

If you thought that John Beck's numbers were bad, wait to you get a load of Eli Manning's first four outings:

After reading this, do you think that Beck could bounce back the Eli did and reach such Olympian heights?

In fact, I'll name you 4 HOF QB's that John has looked better than in there rookie year: Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, John Elway, and our own Bob Griese. All of these guys were drafted in the first round and 3 were either the first or second pick of their draft. Bradshaw was real bad, try 6 TD's against 24 INT's. Aikman had the best comp. % with a 52.9 but was 0-11. Bob was bad enough that Joe Robbie wanted to draft another QB and trade him, thankfully Joe Thomas said no and Bob went on to 3 SB's in a row winning 2 of them. John Elway had a comp.% of 47.5 % and twice as many INT's as TD's, 14-7. Yet all went to the SB within 4 years of starting; two won and two lost.

With only 4 games under his belt there is just no way to know if John will be good or bad because it takes time. I will say this in his last 22 minutes he started to look as if he caught on to the speed because he put up 15 points in that time frame with the crew he had to work with. So, Yes he just needs time.
