how many people believe that the 4 most talked about elite free agents, bentley, hutchinson, petersen, and clements will actually be available for miami to sign? my guess is NONE. here is my opinion why: at least 1 will probably be resigned and if not all 4 will be hit with the tag. why will they be tagged? because even if the team has no desire to sign them long term because of cap problems they can try to leverage some compensation from another team and also have some control against that player going to a division opponent. why will this work? mainly because these players don't won't to sign a franchise tag 1 yr deal and won't force the teams hand and instead will hope to work out a longterm deal with a team willing to trade for them. imo saban will not be held "hostage" and refuse to pay compensation and will spend on several mid-grade players instead. what do you guys think?

i think bentley could be possible, the others i don´t think so

I think you could be right.I haven't been fooling myself like some of the other guys on here who think we're gonna get 5 probowl players in free agency....I live close to Disney world but I'm not in fantasyland.....I'll be happy if we can come away with one top guy...2 would be amazing and 3 will not happen.

Ozzy rules!!

If any of those guys does become a free agent tho...here's what we need to do..... :abduct:

Peterson may be out there. A few people on this board have said that it doesn't appear that the 49ers really want to invest all that money in him, since he is inconsistent. If we make an effort to get him, I think we do it after the draft (since so many younger cheaper guys will be available this year).

Franchise tags can be really expensive, especially for cornerbacks. It's something to consider. I myself don't want Clements because I think we can do better with our younger guys, and through the draft.

All because you have a bad year doesn't mean your not worth going after. Clements is a perfect corner when he's playing well and fits perfectly in this system.

Not sure but seattle sign S. Alexander to a contract because if not then they would have to make a choice between him and hutch, as far as tagging one of them.

Clements will NOT I repeat NOT be worth the $$$ he will be asking for!!! We have 2 good young CB's..sign Ty Law for a year and develop another..dont blow a 15 million dollar signing bonus on a corner who will be coming off a BAD year.

Good point, but I think Peterson will be available for the reasons mentioned above, and maybe Bentley as well. I'm not sure the Saints want to pay a center the average salary of the top five offensive linemen (including left tackles) in the league. But I'm with you on Hutchinson and Clements -- I don't think Seattle's going to mess with that left side of the line, and I don't think Buffalo's going to let a young, pro-bowl caliber CB go in FA.
