Elway interviews Vance Joseph, says he has 'great leadership qualities'

I mean, no offense, but isn't a GM, or whatever Elway's position is, going to say that about everyone they interview? If you have any good business sense you don't say anything bad about someone in public anyway. So Elway saying that about Joseph really isn't that shocking.

VJ is off to San Diego next. The fact that Denver didn't make him an offer makes me wonder...maybe they're just doing their due diligence or maybe they just want to make sure they interview more candidates but usually when you interview a coach and you really want him...you don't let him walk out the door, especially to a rival team. We brought Gase in and that was our only interview, he was supposed to head to the Giants I believe and we didn't let him leave cause that was Ross' target.

This smells more of Rooney rule than legit interview.

*shrugs*

If he stays, he stays. If he goes, he goes.

that's where im at right now also. Just don't care either way. I guess I would like him to stay just for continuity but he's gonna have to get better results next year if he does stay.

I agree with you. And I'll add that I don't see him as a head coach for any team in 2017-18. But I've been wrong before.

From what I've heard he apparently interviews really well. If Denver had hired him his OC would have been Mike McCoy (who was an OC in Denver before), pretty sure that won't work if San Diego hires him.

The Denver thing never made sense to me. He adds nothing given that Wade Phillips is already there and the defense is top 10, maybe top 5. He's not an offensive minded coach so he can't develop the QB or fix the running game. Denver is ready made for Kyle Shanahan...I've said it before.

Vance Joseph's best bet is probably the Bills which I would be fine with but my guess is he's not a serious candidate for anyone.

I think Elway and the fans want Kyle Shanahan. VJ is their #2 choice and covers the Rooney rule.

I hope he does go, and that he goes to an AFC team. He's hardly proven himself as a coordinator and already he's getting kicked upstairs to the big chair. Even good coordinators, like Bowles, often make bad head coaches. So if Denver or whoever else wants to go that route, more power to them.

I'm more interested in getting a coordinator in Miami whose defense isn't going to give up the most yards in franchise history, bad personnel or not.

exactly if he was the guy elway wouldn't have let him leave...it just satisfys the rooney rule i believe lil shanny is his guy.

I'd do the deal in a NY minute if essentially we could swap out VJ for Wade Phillips!

They're locked on to Sean McDermott.
