I've never been to a dolphin game. Is there any truth to this. It seems possible because I could have sworn the announcer say it was a sold out gam.

"Sunday afternoon was hot. There were moans from many fans as they walked out of the cold air interior to the bright lit open air stadium. Sweat immediately poured off my brow down my face. Then the realization occurred to me that for the next three and half quarters the sun would not give me a reprieve by ducking behind the upper level seating overhang above me. No, it was setting in the other direction. In other words, I was screwed.

As the game progressed from the first to the second quarter my seven year old son couldn’t take it anymore so we walked inside for a quick reprieve from the baking sun to get him cooled down and re-hydrated. That’s when I realized the bigger problem with the empty seats in the stands. The stadium wasn’t as empty as it seemed. Everyone was inside.

The interior halls of the Club Level were quite full. So much so that I couldn’t find a place to sit my kid for a few minutes. People stood in line at the concession stand. Drank beer at full tables of patrons, an ice bar was full from one end to the other and musicians played varying degrees of music on each side of the stadium. The halls bustled with foot traffic. All watching the game on HD televisions around the stadium.

I realized that the Miami Dolphins have done such a great job to cater to the fans that they have actually taken the fans out of the stadium seats and put them in high-class living rooms. I mean, good for them in terms of business. Get the fan off the couch at home and into the stadium couches instead but that leaves huge voids around the stadium where the players actually can hear the fans cheer. They can’t hear you from inside.

My son grabbed some ice cream and told me that he would eat it outside where he could see the game. A lady and her male companion offered up a two person table to us and my son promptly said, “No thanks, I can watch TV at home”. I didn’t wait around to see their reaction but I can tell you mine."

When your team puts crap on the field....the only voice the fans have is empty seats. This over a decade without a playoff win....a team that was a winner.

phinphanatic or as we call him brian is a personal friend to several of us here in the dolphins web site community,we have never know him to speak non truths......except for the april fools joke he started a few years ago he is pretty much spot on with his blogs

I get that. My question is does it get that hot that these indoor club level areas get packed? Can they hold that many people?

It's hot man, I went to the Packers game about 5 years ago in November and they set a record for people passing out due to the heat!

the club level plaza is indoors and air conditioned and is only for people with club level seats, the club level outdoor seats have cool air circulating on you as well, the lower bowl out door area is covered by the floors of the club level and the upper bowl is exposed to the sun mostly, there are a few areas with coverings but not many

The stadium wasn't empty. As I assumed in the thread I created regarding my experience at SLS, I'd guess the stadium was 75-80% full. I could be wrong of course but it wasn't empty.

The stadium was hot and it was loud! There were a lot of people hanging out in the corridors hiding from the sun so that explains a lot of the empty seats. It was hot but I live in the caribbean so I could tolerate the heat. I would much prefer that to watching a game at Lambeau in december!

Here's a pic I took at kickoff. The stadium isn't full of course but more people came once the first qtr got underway.

I used to go to all the games and usually ended up inside watching on a big screen at the bar.
The excitement of the stadeum was great as was the tailgating but I liked the instant replays and game analysis which TV can provide.
Also easy access to your favorite beverages & food and not as hot and loud as in the seats.

Sounds like your son is following in daddy's footsteps. Good for him .. and you.

I was there hottest game i have ever been too and i have been too 1pm games. I couldn't take either i went inside for get some water. But the stadium was full i would say 90-95% . Just sucks to pay for a ticket, $30 parking, $9 per drink , tailgating and then lose on some dumb plays. Coaching lost that game. Last game I go too I can watch it at home in the a/c

there is no doub t about it that fans are inside at kickoff and come out after game starts.

I just for the life of me would never go to a game just to sit inside. I do that already.

Miami is just not a very good place for fins football. it is very nice for superbowls in February however.

time to move to another city but it will never happen due to prior sentence.
