For the sake of educating those that are on the "OMG, PIOLI AND THE KC PROBOWLERS, DUDE KNOWS TALENT" train, here are the KC pro-bowlers and who was GM when they were drafted.

Branden Albert - Carl Peterson
Jamal Charles - Carl Peterson
Dontari Poe - Pioli
Tamba Hali - Peterson
Justin Houston - Pioli
Brandon Flowers - Peterson
Eric Berry - Pioli
Dexter McCluster - Pioli

Half the pro bowlers are Peterson draft picks. If we want to compare overall effectiveness for tenure:

Peterson acquired or drafted:
Joe Montana
Marcus Allen
Rich Gannon
Priest Holmes
Larry Johnson
Jared Allen
Dwayne Bowe

Pioli acquired or drafted:
Tony Gonzalez - edit*. This is an error on my part, Pioli did not get Gonzo.
Matt Cassell
Bobby Engram
Chris Chambers
Mike Vrabel
Johnathan Baldwin - their 2011 1st rd pick in case you'd never heard of this cat

Under Peterson they had several very good years including AFC championship runs. Under Pioli they had one winning season with a record of 10-6, and averaged 5-11 the other three years with max 7 wins one year. I'm not sure the performance could really be more disparate. Can we all stop with the "hire Pioli" nonsense?

Pioli drafted or Aqcuired Gonzalez? I wasnt aware Pioli was KC's GM in 1997. There were a few years there under Peterson when they had Trent Green where KC's offense was tops in the league. Unfortunately their defense was garbage during those years.

Peterson was there 20 years and won 3 playoff games, 2 of them w/ Joe Montana.

why doesn't Pioli get any credit in NE? I must have missed all the SBs they won w/o him.

Pioli has never worked for the Falcons.

Peterson drafted Gonzalez, not Pioli. Pioli ran him out of KC and replaced him with noone, while Gonzalez went on to tear it up in Atlanta.

Scott Pioli is Bill Parcells' son-in-law.

Just say no to tuna.

Scott Pioli is hot garbage. I'd re-hire Jeff Ireland before I hired that clown.

I wouldn't go that far but I wouldn't want either of them. Pioli is just as back stabbing as Ireland and we'd end up with another Patriot assistant who will be a HC failure like Charlie Weiss, Romeo Crennel, Josh McDaniel and Eric Mangini. I'm still confused why the media hypes up Belichick's assistants like they're the next Vince Lombardi.

Ray Farmer was the Director of Scouting 2006-2012. I would much rather interview him.

No myths end here. Beliefs are too supported by exceptions to the rule, and there will almost always be at least one.

I thought that Pioli was also the brains behind selecting Tom Brady in the 6th round (#199) of the 2000 Draft. That should still count for something in talent evaluation, but as J David Wannyheimer explains, he still Bill Parcells son in law.

And none of them EVER work out.. The Bill Walsh coaching tree was and always will be better.
