Are you guys KIDDING me with this?! If ZT and JT were not on this squad right now, we'd make Oakland look like Indi. These two guys are once again putting together Pro Bowl seasons. JT is in line to lead the AFC in sacks, and ZT may lead the league in tackles. Both are on their way back to the Pro Bowl. Dumping these two guys is NOT the answer. Who in the name of all that is sacred would replace their talent, tenacity, and heart? Not to mention their play-making abilities. This team has a LOT of problems, but ZT and JT are NOT part of that...

AMEN! It's ridiculous that that people are actully suggesting this. It would be one thing is they were past their playing days and were wearing out their welcome, but they are still dominant. Zach leads the league in tackles and Jason just forced 2 fumbles and had 2 sacks. What a joke some of these threads have been. Great 10th post man!

ZT is not what we need anymore

I love AJ Duhe and John Offerdahl, but lets get real

we need youth, speed and physical size in our defense

the truth is starting to hurt

Zach isn't a problem, but he isn't part of the solution

other guys who aren't parts:

- tillman
- will allen
- the old NT's
- Spragan and the other retread OLB's
- Roth

we need to draft for a modern defense

Gotta disagree with you about Zach still being dominant. He can still make plays and can be effective, but he's wearing down and isn't as quick as he used to be, which isn't good because he wasn't fast to begin with.

Okay a ZT and JT apologist!!!

We're not from being like the Raiders right now.

This is a team sport and those guys has had their days in the sun. Just because they're putting together pro bowl seasons doesn't mean they are still right for this team. If they weren't being so self centered Green wouldn't have broke that 70 yarder.

I said it last year and I'm going to say it again, let them go to a contender if they want a Super Bowl win because their window has closed here.

Saban needs to get younger and no matter how tough skinned this coach is I know he doesn't have total control of that locker room as long as those two are there. Saying we suck this and we suck that. That's not what true leaders do (whine and complain) true leaders find ways to when even if it is acknowledging when it's time to endorse some else with more energy.

How many years do realisticly do they have left in the tank ? Maybe 2 or 3 years. We aren't going anywhere this year or even next year. They will not be the players they are now in 3 years. They have been great, and I wish them well. We need to get younger to build a team that will be strong for longer than one season. Their day is over they are too old to build around.

I've just compiled a list of the cap hits for this year over $1m

Culpepper 2,400,000
Brown 3,370,000
Chambers 6,516,666
Booker 3,100,000
McMichael 5,304,000
Shelton 1,475,000
James 3,208,333
Carey 1,902,500
Taylor 11,339,583
Carter 3,775,000
Bowens 2,150,000
Holliday 1,785,000
Thomas 7,287,000
Spragan 1,300,000
Mare 2,321,177

All this talk of cutting Zach and JT to make space for next year???

How about McMichael & Chambers seeing as neither can catch - what they're paid for, or mare, or Booker etc

There's a ton of guys being paid huge amounts for sucking, any talk of rebuilding for the future has to include taking out the trash

I agree cut them too. Then we can draft Calvin Johnson.
