That phrase is overused on this forum. We get it, Jeff Ireland was from the Cowboys, a top scout for them too.

But Ross already fired the main Cowboy. I think Sparano's influence had much more to do with the Cowboy retread free agents than Ireland. Especially since most of them were for our offensive line. I mean our main contributing free agent pickups are:

Reggie Bush - New Orleans
Brandon Marshall - Denver
Karlos Dansby - Arizona
Cameran Wake - CFL
Randy Starks - Tennessee

The rest of them were inherited from previous regimes or drafted by us.

Colombo, Burnett and Fasano were the only Cowboy retreads that started and Fasano has been solid, though he might be better serve as the second TE. Burnett struggled the first half but was solid the second half of the season.

Now give it a rest already. Yes, Zimmer has worked with Ireland before. So what? He happens to be a damn good coach, a coach which Bengals' fans DO NOT want to lose. And if he can get along with Ireland then that's better for us since it seems no other coach can get along with the guy anyways.

Hear Hear! I second that motion. Can we also stop with the " did he ask if his mom was a prostitute" $h*t ?

we really have no clue how well they will get along, in their capacities before they had little to really deal with each other about

I don't want to draft an OG or OT with our first pick, but if we don't we'll probably just sign Dallas cowboys castoffs and watch them get owned all year.

God bless you man, in a thread calling for fans to stop about the cowboys rejects bs, you bring up bs about the cowboys rejects. winner.

whats funny though is another one of the former Cowboys we signed was Nate Jones and he was actually really good for us. And really, some of the guys brought in were really important for us during our 11-5 season (Jones, Ferguson, Ayodele, Fasano)

the only reason we went 11-5 that year was pennington, imo
also i think burnett came from the chargers

Sometimes the truth, as painful as it is, is sitting there staring you in the face. There is nothing anyone can say to the contrary as there is proof of it all over this coaching staff and player roster over the last couple of years.

I would say the play of Pennington was the main reason we finished 11-5 in 2008, it certainly wasn't the only reason. Also, Burnett did come to us from San Diego, but he played his first 4 seasons in Dallas (2005-2008).

not the only reason. We avoided injuries until late in the year (Smiley getting hurt), and our OL was really good that year. The D was very good that year as well. For the second half of the year, Andre Goodman played like an All-Pro. Joey Porter was a dominant pass rusher the entire season. Everybody was making plays that season.

Then it all went down the tank. Penny got hurt, Joey sucked and got an attitude problem, Roth had his issues, Gibril Wilson failed, and Tony started messing around with the OL

I agree with the original OP, we have to keep an open mind and not be prejudiced. The Dallas connection was not all bad.
Even though my opinion of Ireland is low, and he is part of our franchises problem right now, we might have to look at his former associates and connections. We cannot paint anyone as bad just because they worked at Dallas or knows Ireland.
