Active Roster
This is a potential offseason and draft scenario to get Eric Berry, who I think is the most talented and has the highest potential out of all of the draft prospects...
Offseason: (Not all have to be accomplished, but the more the better)
-Sign Antonio Bryant (WR, Tampa Bay) - He's a legit #1 WR that won't need time to develop. He will contribute immediately.
-Sign Ryan Pickett (NT, Green Bay) - Jason Ferguson is getting old... Ryan Pickett is a gap-stopper until we can draft a NT in the later rounds or next year's draft.
-Sign LB's (OLB, ILB). I know I'm vague but we need some ATHLETIC and SMART LB's. Kirk Morrison, Karlos Dansby, Thomas Howard, Shawne Merriman, and others are all viable candidates.
Note that I'm not expecting us to sign all of these players, but the more, the better.
Trades:
-Ronnie Brown + Ted Ginn for a 2nd round pick and 5th round pick. With Antonio Bryant in, Ginn is out. Our "deep threat" is gone, but he can't even catch a wide open pass so it doesn't matter.
Draft:
1. Trade our 1st rounder, and both of our 2nd rounders to move up and select Eric Berry. This is a reasonable deal, and I think teams picking in the top-5 will take moving down a couple of spots two acquire two 2nd round picks, because they will need more than one solid player to rebuild their team. ONLY if necessary, throw in the 3rd round pick, but I'm pretty sure our 1st and two 2nd's will do, especially to move up only a couple spots in the draft.
3. Toby Gerhart (RB, Stanford) - He can pound the rock. He's one of the most durable backs I've ever seen. Not very flashy, but gets the job done and has great work ethic. Doesn't have the greatest upside, but is reliable.
4. Micah Johnson (ILB, Kentucky) - Since we won't be able to sign all of the LB's mentioned, we might as well draft one and help him develop.
5. Dexter McCluster (RB, Mississippi) - He might not last this long due to his breakout performance at the end of the season. If he's not available, then take Noel Devine. Both are undersized RB's, but are explosive. McCluster (or Devine) will serve as a perfect complement to Toby Gerhart (blend of power and speed) as Ronnie and Ricky are nearing (or already at) the end of their careers. We can replace them both in one draft. Also, with McCluster, he's like a mini-CJ Spiller. He's not quite as explosive, but comes at a much cheaper price.
I'm not going to finish the draft because I haven't looked at the late round prospects, but this is a scenario to get Eric Berry...
