ok we drafted two corners pretty high and both are very talented guys. I have looked at the depth chart updated by Nublar and he's pencilled in as a starter? I remember the responses about Eric Green after the signing and basically the gist of it is he got burned alot and we didn't like the signing. personally I think Vonate Davis starts over Green and also I would put Smith ahead of Green in the nickel. question is where do you see Green? does he start? does he even make the team?

I think Green is alot better than JA imo. So yes he makes the team as depth and ST thats it I see JA walking

Green plays more like a safety to me, and if im not mistaken i think Eric green was a safety in college at Virginia tech, so why not put him at safety and make our rokies start at cb smith starts opposite to will allen and vonte at nickel cb

Unless Jason Allen becomes a born again DB, Green will probably make the team as the dime DB behind Allen, Davis and Smith.

thats the thing I don't see use using a corner in the dime, we could use the dime to get Chris Clemons on the field I see him as a big time player in the future, if Bell gets hurt he will get his chance to shine

I disagree. In many more starts than JA (at the same position as opposed to being shuffled around) Green only has slightly better stats.

I am excited to see a roster where there is true competition. I have watched the Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, Colts, and other consistent talent teams cast off players we were anxious to grab. I can foresee a time in the near future where the bottom of our roster is coveted. That is my true takeaway from discussions like this thread on Eric Green.

I have Green as the starter right now, because Davis has to first earn the starting job in camp. I expect once the season starts, Davis will be the starter.

I understand just got me thinking

Eric Green: 51 games played, 33 games started, 167 total tackles, 150 solo, 17 assisted, 30 pass deflections, 2 interceptions

Jason Allen: 47 games played, 11 games started, 118 total tackles, 103 solo, 15 assisted, 8 pass deflections, 5 interceptions

Eric Green , with 22 more starts and one more season (getting to stay at one position), only has 49 more tackles and three fewer interceptions than Jason Allen, but 22 more PDs. Jason Allen, with out the luxury of playing at one position for more than one season, has clearly out preformed Eric Green in his career.

I think the 22 more pass deflections is the real telling stat in there. I think Green will probably start the yr as our third corner ahead of 1 of the rookies, but probably be #4 by the end of the season.

green played corner @ vt. he started for the cards for 2 years, so hopefully we get that version, as opposed to the version that was left inactive for the playoffs.

Jason Allen surpasses Green in virtually every aspect of playing CB or just playing football.

Like I have said a hundred times before, I live in Phoenix and I have seen almost every game Green played as a Cardinal.

Green brings nothing to to the table.

I'm not saying Jason Allen is good, I'm say ing Eric Green is just plain bad.

Jason Allen is bigger, stronger, much faster and quicker.

Allen has better ball skills.

Allen hits harder.

Coverage skills may be the same.

Allen is a good ST's player.

Allen is younger.

Anyone putting any hope in Eric Green to contribute at any kind of significant level is going to be disappointed, even if he has a good camp and somehow makes the roster as a 9th DB, he will eventually fade.

If Allen is cut and Green makes the roster it will be for ulterior reasons, which may be possible. It appears to me that it may be possible to offend Parcell's by doing too many stupid things.

Your are right, but it is entirely possible that if JA had played at corner his whole career that he would have had a lot more pass deflections as well.

Jason Allen went one on one with Randy Moss last year and played very well. I know he did get beat couple of times, but when you consider teams have elite CB's and still double or have safety deep covering Moss, he still gets free and makes catches and TD.

Allen i think im right in saying this, is in his first consecutive season knowing he is staying in same position, same playbook and same coacing staff. Everybody is raving about Vontae and i like him too, but lets consider our concerns about Vontae. He is physically gifted, tall, strong, fast and hits like a safety.....but is reckless, naive and sometimes over confident. Sounds a lot like Jason Allen coming out of college, but I think what ive stated previous will give Jason Allen the head start over Vontae.
