Eric Smith Suspended and fined

I think that is ridiculous. If you watch the replay Kerry Rhodes hits Boldin from behind which forces his head down right into the hit. If Rhodes wasn't there Boldin would have been hit in the chest which would have been perfectly legal.

I thought he'd get fined but not suspended. he should have been hit w/ a flag on the play though. I guess I don't have a problem w/ the suspension.

He may appeal the suspension portion which would also reduce the fine as it includes a game check.

I feel for Boldin. It was unfortunate that he was caught in a bad spot betweeb two guys like he was, but.................... fines? suspensions? Inappropiate and excessive reaction by the NFL. None did anything to hurt anyone. The guy was executing his job like he was hired to do. Last time I checked it was the defenses responsibility to stop the ball from moving towards their endzone. They do this how? They tackle guys, strip balls, deflect them, force fumbles and incompletions. Whats the problem here? Are we going to start fining and suspending someone everytime there is an injury on the field? Does NFL now stand for the non-contact football leauge?

Rhodes knocking him forward made it worse but Smith still led w/ his helmet.
Yes,but his facemask was up looking at Bolden's chest, perfectly legal.Rhodes hit from behind forced Bolden's head down into the crown of Smith's helmet, causing the knockout blow.

I don't believe he is a dirty player and I'm sure he felt bad for Anquan but he did launch with his head so whether he hit him in the head or chest its still likely to get fined. Can't believe no flag on that play though.

He led w/ his helmet, it's a point of emphasis this year and he deserved his suspension. There have been many hits worse than that over the years but it's a point of emphasis this year and he deserved what he got. This is for the safety of the players.

:DI guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.I didn't think he lead with his head any more than any safety ever does when trying to separate a receiver from the ball.I believe he should be fined for the helmet to helmet contact, but no suspension as there was no intent to injure.
