I had no idea Eric Steinbach was 6' 6". He is definitely big and athletic enough to play LT...

To me this should be our top FA target. At the very least, he can play LG and we move Shelton back to LT...or maybe he can fit right in at LT

Especially since there arent any LTs available via the draft where we would be picking who would be immediate starters

So, I would definitely target Eric Steinbach, with Leonard Davis my second choice...

Eric Steinbach would play LG. He would be 3rd on my priority list this off-season. Adalius Thomas 1st, Asante Samuel 2nd, and him 3rd.

you wouldnt want to move steinbach to left without knowing he can play it first. its going to take alot of money just to sign him and id rather not pay LT money for a guy that may or may not work out at the spot and end up having to play him at LG.

Actually, Steinbach has played LT. He played it at Iowa, and filled in nicely when Levi Jones went down. He's a little undersized, but he is definitely tough. He had a little trouble with speed rushers, Joey Porter and Dwight Freeney in the two games I can think of off the top of my head. I wouldn't mind him in Miami though, if anything, he'd be a solid addition at guard and is very effective at pulling. Just keep him away from boats.

3rd?????

Dog, at #9 there will be a DB and OLB available...but no LT. OL must be #1 priority via FA, because it is the only way we are going to upgrade

Steinbach is 6-6, so he can play LT. Even to play LG...I would still sign him and then move Shelton to LT

So Steinbach MUST be #1 priority...with Davis our plan B

Clements and Thomas should be considered AFTER we sign our LT/LG...because we would still be able to draft one at #9 if we miss out...but not so with LT. Duh?

I agree with this reasoning but the ABSOLUTE #1 priority MUST be a SHUTDOWN CB. Yes, one will be availabe in the draft but that's yet another rookie starting. Our secondary is the weakest and most flawed squad on our team. The OL, as bad as they started, ended the season a million times better than our secondary. The OL showed continuous improvement, our secondary, here one game gone the next.

Priority HAS to be NATE CLEMENTS or ASSANTE SAMUELS. God please.

Yeah there will be a CB avalible at 9, but Revis and Hall are both pretty suspect, Steinbach will end up playing LG, and id rather have Damion Mcintosh playing LT. Patrick Willis is the only LB worth taking at 9 and he's an ILB that would be converted into a OLB. Signing these two guys would give us more flexibility in the draft and trading down would then become a smarter option. We DEFINITLY need to up-grade the offensive line talent level, but they didnt play that bad in the 2nd half of the season.

Shelton was pretty bad at LT, one of the main culprits of our poor offensive line play. He played well at RG.

i would agree with your logic for a vet CB over a rookie...but only "after" we fill our #1 need. Remember, DMac is a FA. So we dont have last year's OLine per se

This is not true at all. I have every game this year recorded. He played just as good as DMac has. As a matter of fact, Carey and the right side was the struggling side early on...not the left.

Thus, the reason Saban moved him to the rightside...because DMac was struggling at RG. Shelton didnt struggle at all as a matter of fact. That is all misinformation.
