Eric Weddle to the Miami Dolphins?
As you may have learned by now, Dolphins safety Louis Delmas appears to have suffered a tear to the ACL in his right knee for the second consecutive season after getting carted off the field today during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers.
Could the Dolphins be looking outside the roster for safety help? The Sun Sentinel’s Omar Kelly pondered as much, tweeting about how maybe they should inquire about Chargers All-Pro safety Eric Weddle.

David Canter, Weddle’s South Florida-based agent, tweeted his glowing endorsement.

The 30-year-old Weddle is in the final year of a five-year, $40 million contract.
If the Dolphins, or anyone else, do inquire about trading for the five-time All-Pro, his next contract extension likely won’t come cheap. He was Pro Football Focus’ top ranked safety in 2014.

I highly doubt we trade for him. Our cap can't handle extending him. They also want to go young. Stick with Aikens. The kid is talented

Wont happen. I cannot believe Canter went there.
 
Lot of ifs here - making cap numbers work, compensation for Weddle, etc - but it'd obviously be a nice get. I'd disagree that weddle/jones > thomas/kam.

I will say this, tannenbaum has 0 problem trading picks.

Thats how he got the jets into the AFC championship, and Ross told Tannenbaum to do whatever is needed to make the jump.

I just don't see SD trading Weddle. And I also can't stand Canter.
 
Please no. He'd in all likelihood be a rental anyway, and we have a couple of real nice young players at FS that can progress.

If we're going to trade for a player why not a MLB? This defense is a good MLB away from being elite IMO.

Isn't weddle disgruntled? That usually has a big impact. Plus I highly doubt his agent would join in the talk if it wasn't possible. Agents have an agenda with every word they speak it seems.

I think we could get this done, or get Mathis his money if we restructured Suh's big money deal. Dawn Aponte and Hickey should call him into the office and crunch the numbers. It's not MY money so just work it out....give them Some of that Bumpus V Bookie Money!!! :up:
