ESPN AFC East blog suggests Manning meeting is nothing more than courtesy visit

"Courtesy" visit. It will only be a courtesy visit if Peyton is doing it for Marino. Tennessee, now that's a courtesy meeting since he played college ball there. But I think there is genuine interest in joining the Dolphins, we have weapons for him, we can add Reggie Wayne and Reggie wants to play here. This is more than a courtesy meeting. Peyton wants to be here but he needs to know from Philbin if we can actually dethrone Tom Brady with our talent and new offensive system.

Why would he take a full tour of a place her already knows very well.....

Where do these writers keep their heads?

I think the idea of leverage is pretty laughable. Manning doesn't need tons of cash that is obvious. Secondly, any team that signs him seems willing to pretty much give him whatever he wants. Lastly, all the reports I have seen are he is looking for the "right fit" more than anything else. WIth those things, I think he meets with teams he is interested in signing with. THere is no leverage to be gained.

The whole theory of your post is just to support your favorite QB Flynn.
Frankly, I would pass on Flynn and the bloated salary he is asking for.
Time to draft another project QB and start MM if Manning spurns our offer.

well he doesn't have to go far for this "courtesy visit" so its not like its a big time consumer........

Leverage means which team Manning/Agent can use to get the Dolphins to give him more guaranteed money. It's not about AVG per year or the total contract. Guaranteed money is very important to every player. More importantly it's very important to his agent, Mr. Condon. My new hero by the way, he's a freaking genius.

Great, another hack reporter's opinion heard from without a shred of proof/evidence. How about we just wait and see what happens. Not going to even cover the numerous reasons a "courtesy visit" theory makes no sense for Manning or us.

I agree with you, i would definitely pass on the severely overrated and overhyped Flynn. They could sign Jason Campbell and then, if Manning doesn't sign with the fins, they could still draft Tannehill or Weeden to compete for the starting spot. Any of those four are upgrades over Flynn.

GO PHINS~!

Manning not touring the facility is not good look at all IMO. Why wouldn't he want to see his potential new digs?

Because he lives in Miami, hes been to the facilities before, he won a super bowl there. No need.

Manning would net ask Philblin and co to fly up there for a courtesy meeting.
And according to AS of Herold, Manning do not want Ross to be there.
Its far from courtesy.

A 5-6 hour courtesy meeting? I usually only need between 5-10 minutes for those. Sometimes only a couple of seconds...
