GTOs (Glad They're Ours)

Quarterbacks who are solid, proven winners, but not flashy. Some have limited abilities, are long in the tooth or look awkward at times, but they can flat-out play the position.
1. Brett Favre, Minnesota
Analysis: Has mastered every trick of the trade … still has upper-echelon arm talent though he is pushing 40 … aura brings great energy and enthusiasm to any team … lack of offseason training will test aging legs, putting additional pressure on arm over course of full season.
2. Jake Delhomme, Carolina
Analysis: Enjoyed significant big-game success before that aberration against the Cardinals last postseason … dynamic leader who gets the most from his own abilities and from those around him … can be streaky as a passer.
3. Kerry Collins, Tennessee
Analysis: Hungry for a championship … great perimeter thrower … struggles when the rhythm and timing of the play is taken away from him.
4. Chad Pennington, Miami
Analysis: Proven winner who makes every team he's on better immediately … expert at dissecting and exposing weaknesses in the defense … limited physical skills.
5. David Garrard, Jacksonville
Analysis: Very talented quarterback with very good throwing and running skills … great strength in the pocket … victimized by poor personnel around him … has tried to do too much at times, including last season, when he tried to do things a quarterback cannot do with an average supporting cast

IN THE ON-DECK CIRCLE

Five guys with great upside who have not yet had the opportunity to showcase their abilities. These are potential stars and superstars of tomorrow. Withholding further analysis until we see more of these guys.
1. Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
2. Matthew Stafford, Detroit
3. Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay
4. Chad Henne, Miami
5. Brady Quinn, Cleveland

again nobody gives Penny his due respect. What was he? 2nd in the MVP voting? a key cog in brininging a team that was one play away from a no win season to winning the division and he is only the 19th best in their book... What the hell has Tony Romo done, he even had one of the top recieving combos last year... Same with carson palmer, didnt hear much from him last year and his top 2 recievers were great as well. Big Ben?? the number one guy in the star category was number 24 last yr in passer rating.he has 2 less td's and8 more int's and 300 less yards how is he 14 spots better than penny?

penny was 9th in yards, 1st in comp % (over 30 att), 7th in yds per att (there goes the dink and dunk theory) 12 in td, tied for 2nd in fewest ints thrown, 2nd in passer rating.
Averaging all of those together he avgs 5th best qb all stats combined

... "Proven winner who makes every team he's on better immediately … expert at dissecting and exposing weaknesses in the defense … limited physical skills."
That's an EXCELLENT description. Under the "Glad They're Ours" category.
Obviously he's not one of the best QB's or a superstar. On a team that controlled the time of possession every game, he averaged 30 attempts per game which is 19th last year.. He's not a dominant QB. He fits a role perfectly. He doesn't turn the ball over and has the best completion percentage in history, just don't ask the guy to win you games through the air week in and week out.

They overrate the same guys every year..Eli, Hasselbeck, Romo.. I'd be more upset with their ratings then what Chad got.

I think the written description is pretty accurate, but yea i think it is the fact that the others are way overrated above him, that and that he is grouped in with the likes of david garrard... that and the fact that cutler is in a category above him... id take penny over cutler any day... pefect example of how arm strength isnt the most important thing.
