Don't do it Miami Dolphins, Do not make a quarterback mistake that could stagnate the franchise for the next several years.

Do not, under any circumstances, trade for Tim Tebow.

I know this thought will cross the mind of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, if it hasn't already. Peyton Manning agreed to join the Denver Broncos on Monday. Now, Tebow is expected to be available.

Ross is desperate to make a splash to help fill an empty and often lifeless Sun Life Stadium. The Dolphins even came up with the idea last year to honor Tebow and his national champion team with the Florida Gators even though he was the opposing starting quarterback.

It would be naïve to assume the Dolphins' front office wouldn't be interested in Tebow. Getting the wildly popular Tebow would put more fans in the stands. That is one of Ross' main objectives. But from a pure football standpoint, the Dolphins should want no part of this.

Miami is implementing a precision-passing, West Coast offense under rookie head coach Joe Philbin. Last year Denver had to gut its offense to mold around Tebow’s strength, which is more run-oriented. Acquiring Tebow and making him your starter would completely undermine everything Philbin and new offensive coordinator Mike Sherman were brought to Miami to do.

With Tebow, the Dolphins would not run the Packers' system or any pass-heavy system in Miami -- at least if they want a chance to compete. The only system you can successfully run with Tebow is the read-option offense he ran in college and last season with the Broncos. That is why Denver desperately did everything it could to land Manning.

I'm a Tebow fan and I am for it, he is a sure-fire way to provide two things fans in the seats and leadership in the locker room. You can say he isn't a good quarterback and the numbers will prove it but the guy does win and his team mates love him. If they want a 2nd rounder forget about it but if it costs us a late round pick then why not.

I'd give up a 5th rounder to have him play TE/Fullback....at least we would get 20,000 extra fans at the game.

This though I don't care about the fans at the game. Win and they will come, otherwise, I hope Ross loses millions yearly.

Just threw up in my mouth a little. I'd be speachless if we sign him.....and not in a good way.

These guys at ESPN a real smart!?! Why didn't I think of that?!? Oh wait I did....a long while ago.

contrary to popular belief, Miami doesn't have the luxury to "Avoid" anyone...

Its also a sure fire way to get Philbin to resign. Tebow is David Woodley on steroids. No thanks. I'm 50yrs old and still vividly recall Woodley's 0 for 8 2nd half in the SB vs the Redskins. Phins led 17-10 at halftime. The Hogs and Riggins wore down the Killer B's and dominated the 2nd half en route to a 27-17 win. Woodley was as useless as Tebow was against the Pats.

Wasn't he like 4 for 23 for the game.

If Ross makes this move, he'll lose a lot of faithful fans of the Dolphins but he'll probably gain a lot of new fans...Tebow fans that is, not Dolphin fans. If I were Philbin I would most definitely resign though, Tebow would ruin his career.
