Saints trying to seal Brees deal

<Mar. 12> The Miami Herald reports that the Saints are offering about $3 million more in guaranteed money than the Dolphins, and the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that the Saints have made it known they will out-bid anyone for Brees' services.

Brees flew to New Orleans on Saturday with Saints coach Sean Payton and GM Mickey Loomis, who picked up the former Chargers quarterback in Birmingham, Ala. Earlier Saturday, Dolphins coach Nick Saban and GM Randy Mueller visited with Brees in Birmingham, hoping to convince him to pay Miami a visit before agreeing to a deal with the Saints.
Brees appears to be done negotiating with the Chargers, who have been offering a contract loaded with incentives in the first year because of his offseason shoulder surgery. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the sides remain about $6 million apart in guaranteed money. With the Vikings reportedly close to trading Daunte Culpepper, Minnesota is also considered a possible destination for Brees.

In Miami, local sports show host Joe Rose said that he has heard from reliable sources that people close to Brees are telling him to take the lesser offer and sign with Miami. They are telling him that he will regret playing for the Saints in the long run because of the history of instability in the organization versus the Dolphins organizational history and more solid foundation.

i think this is just posturing from the brees camp. i get the impression he'd rather play for the phins but is trying to use NO's willingness to overpay to get more money from the phins. that's why he scheduled the trip to NO first. i see him signing with us by monday unless the saints give him a MUCH bigger offer than he is worth

i dont see how that is such a far stretch, edge wanted $$$ and the cards gave it to him, he is getting 11 million dollars gaurenteed this year!!!!! they had the WORST running attack in the league. and he is a STUD, he is going to one of the best passing teams in the game. so if he can up there rushing offense just a little bit and they could be an offense to be FEARED of. hes smart, they needed a rb and they got it. i mean it was a sure thing that edge wasnt heading back to indy. AZ has great weather, i know i used to live there. and phoenix is a fun town, they're getting a new stadium. and you got boldin and fitzgerald as teamates? thats a no brainer my man. sooo i dont see how you say ^^^^^^
