ESPN:Miami Dolphins' projected roster

I wouldn't count out Binns either.

Exactly, that is the one that jumped at me most. If Binns can continue to look like he did last year before injury, I really think he will be tough to keep off the roster. Miami desperately does need big, consistent redzone targets. Miami needs to feel more confident about scoring, and actually score more TDs.

Guys I see missing are Hazel, Gillislee, Sims, Fede.

You dont draft guys like Hazel and Fede to just cut them. I think when it comes down to it we wont have 10 lineman on the 53 man roster but just add guys in during the weeks when guys get injured, say like having Larsen on the practice squad and bringing him in if the is an injury instead of using a roster spot. I also think Jalil Brown gets cut even after a good offseason because we can put a guy like Wilson or Thomas at corner if needed.

Hazel over Williams
Gillislee over Brown
Sims over extra lineman
Fede over possibly Devlin (idk where the spot will be made from but i dont see Fede getting cut)

Another interesting battle i see coming is the battle for the last DT spot. Last years undrafted free agent Francis and this year Anthony Johnson. I dont think either would make it to the practice squad so that could be an interesting battle to see who pulls ahead.

My Gosh our Linebackers and running backs are so weak.

-Jalil Brown and Daniel Thomas do not make the 53.
-Anthony Johnson and Damian Williams do.
-Sims vs Egnew vs Hoskins should be interesting for the #2/#3 TE spot. Lynch is guaranteed a spot imo.
-Did I miss something or is Tripp's first name Jordan instead of Jordie?

Never heard him called Jordie lol

whoever wrote this line up does not follow the dolphins to close

especially since its also to show the depth chart. No way is Colledge in front of Brenner, Thomas, and Turner at this point since he was just an insurance signing to begin with.

Eh...

We don't carry 6 WR's. Minus 1, Plus 1 TE (Sims doesn't get cut).

Pouncey is placed on PUP designated for return Week 6, that opens up 1 roster slot until his return.

We don't carry 6 CB's, Jalil Brown odd man out. Jimmy Wilson 'versatility' at S/CB makes him a combo #6 CB and #2 S, +1 Safety in either Kovacs or Jones.

Dion Jordan suspension may sabe A.J. Franics/Anthony Johnson spot for a few weeks. +1 DT.

+1, RB in Williams or Thigpen. If not Thigpen, confused as to who is returning kicks.

---------------------------

My Opening Day 53

QB (3) - Tannehill, Moore, Devlin

RB (4) - Miller, Moreno, Thomas, Thigpen (KR/PR)

WR (5) - Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Matthews, Landry

TE (4) - Clay, Egnew, Lynch, Sims

OL (9) - Albert, Thomas, Smith, James, Garner, Fox, Brenner, Turner, Colledge, Pouncey (PUP, Week 6 Return, Colledge Cut Upon Pouncey Return)

DL (8) - Wake, Vernon, Shelby, Starks, Mitchell, Odrick, Johnson, Fede, Jordan (4 Game Suspension, Fede Cut/Practice Squad Upon Jordan Return)

LB (7) - Misi, Ellerbe, Wheller, Jenkins, Tripp, Trusnik, Freeny

CB (5) - Grimes, Finnegan, Taylor, Davis, Aikens

S (5) - Jones, Delmas, Wilson (S/CB), Thomas, D. Jones

ST (3) - Fields, Sturgis, Denney

I can almost guarantee we'll only carry 2 QBs on the 53 with Brock Jensen or whoever as an emergency QB on the practice squad. I have a feeling the staff loves Brock and I don't see us tying up 4 spots on the QB position.

Until we know for sure the offensive line is playing much better than last year it would be a grave mistake to only have 2 quarterbacks on the 53 man roster.

His full name is Jordan but I think that they all call him Jordie and that's what he probably prefers. He wouldn't be the only Dolphin to modify or shorten his given name. We don't refer to Michael Pouncey, Derek Cameron Wake, William Davis, James Wilson, Michael Wallace, Patrick Devlin, Walter Aikens, Nathan Garner, Samuel Brenner, Anthony Joseph Francis or even Joseph Philbin.
Some may be surprised that Koa Misi's full name is Nawa'akoa Lisiate Foti Analeseanoa Misi. I understand why he prefers to be called Koa. Richard Dominic Incognito Jr probably mispronounced it.

I was thinking the same thing. I could see us trading/letting Devlin go because we really need the spot for OL. If the OL is so bad that we "need" 3 QBs then the season is done anyway.

Couldn't agree more. If you lose QB1 and QB2 then you are ****ed 99% of the time anyway, go with the undrafted rookie or even give Tebow a shot at that point, either way it matters not. I would rather use that roster spot on a player like Gator Hoskins, who could turn out to be the next Charles Clay.

Matt Moore, Daniel Thomas, and Michael Egnew is settling for mediocrity yet again. Think any of those dudes make the Pat's roster? Nope.

Every year there are something like 5 or 6 surprises that dont make the team that would not make much sense to us at this point. Im looking at depth at some positions right now to see where we might be able to move a player and get something for him because a guy sitting behind him that can offer the same services.
