29. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins will have a new, revamped offensive line when the 2007 season starts. After giving up 21 sacks in the first four games of 2006, they moved left tackle L.J. Shelton to right guard and right guard Damion McIntosh to left tackle. With McIntosh and starting guard Jeno James now gone, Miami will be looking at new players at as many as four positions, including second-round draft pick Samson Satele at center and Shelton possibly at right tackle. If Satele is able to take over the center position, expect Rex Hadnot to move from center to guard and newly acquired Chris Liwienski to guard. This should be a strong run-blocking group, but will need some time to form a unit that can provide quarterback Trent Green with time to locate his receivers. Line coaches Hudson Houck and Tim Davis will have their hands full, but they are good teachers.

Only teams below us are the Lions, Texans, Browns, and the Raiders...Sad. I really think we are better than that. Not league best, but definatly better than that. Here's to hoping...

I also think we are and will be better then the 29th ranking. Hopefully this group comes together during camp and preseason. I think if we are middle of the pack, say 10th - 14/15 it will sufficient for us to have a succesfull season.

they cant rank us high, they have nothing to base it on... we'll have a first time left tackle basically in Carey, not that it wont work because i think it will, but you cant put him above proven left tackles... Sheltons at an unnatural position, cant put him above any proven right tackles... hadnots the only one whos playing at a spot we know he can play, then we'll have to complete unknowns in C and RG with the 2 rookies...

you cant put our group high at all, i have high expectations, and i think we'll be much better than the 29th best oline in the league, but based on just past performance you cant rank them any higher than this in the offseason

For having 3 new starters and every single player at a new position I think anything better than 15 is rather unlikely. If we get pete kendall I can see us in the 16-20 range. If we use liwenski or mormino I think we'll be anywhere from 20-26... I think the only thing going for us at the moment is that they have not really changed any of the guys positions in a while menaing they have been working together at their spots since OTA's and mini-camp began. That could help them gel...

Actually I think shelton projects pretty well to RT. He's too tall to be an effective guard, and RT puts a premium on run blocking so it fits his strength. His fault however is that he never lives up to his potential, or his physical tools/Measures....BTW did he play G or RT in arizona?

I know what you are saying but with all the new players and new position jiggling thats happening and the O-Line unproven that placing is right IMO. What i will guarantee is we WILL be better than 29. Just takes time. Trust in Houck and Cam and let them work on the O-line. Im expecting better and rightly so come this season. Only way is up. Lets hope Carey can settle at LT. Hes our best Lineman IMO and im hoping throwing him back to LT wont be detrimental to his progress. If he is average at LT i expect us next season to get a Bonafide Franchise LT in the Draft and Carey will go back to RT. O-Line is going to be interesting to watch this season but im confident we will get it sorted.

i agree i think he projects better to RT, but he still hasn't done that, he might have for like half a season but in Arizona he played LT for them, and also in cleveland... maybe RT will be a better fit, problem is its still an unknown

I agree with arsenal, they could not put us any higher with all the movement on the line. The way I look at it is we have nowhere to go but up. Its a pretty fair write up.

I actually think its a fair write up. Until our young guys prove something there is no reason to put us higher. BUT i really think that the combination of Cam's Offense, Green's ability to get rid of the ball, and the new blocking scheme will really help them to get better faster than most can believe. BUT like it was said before. It all hinges on whether Carey can make the transition to LT...

Shelton played LT for the first five season in Arizona before moving to RT in 2004. Shelton's biggest problem in Arizona was injuries having played in all 16 games only twice in six years.

I think the biggest concern right now could be the lack of depth. At the moment we have an undrafted PS player backing up center. A bunch of rookies backing up the guard spots and at tackle alabi is recovering from knee surgury, and toledo had to have his foot re-broken. The only real proven back-up we have is Mike rosenthal...

LT- Vernon Carey, Anthony Alabi (1 Start), Joe Toledo (0 Starts)
Lg- Chris Lewenski, Drew Mormino (R), Dan Stevenson (PS)
C- Samson Satale(R), Johnathan Ingram(PS)
RG- Rex Hadnot, Tala Esera(R), Stephen Parker (R)
RT- L.J. Shelton, Mike Rosenthal, Julius Wilson (R) Marion Dukes (R)

Overall: 15 O-linemen
6 of them Rookies

They have A LOT to prove...

The O-line has been the primary cause of acid reflux in Dolphins land for quite a while now. This shouldn't be news to anyone.

our O-Line sucks we need to get pete kendall

I agree. Pete isn't going to come here and be a pro-bowler or anything. But he will be able to be a calming force on the left side and help them gel. Remember he was between two rookies last year and he helped them to develop, while at the same time he had a good year himself....

I hope that ranking is correct, cause i need my D to take advantage of that in our game 1st week of the season..but truly i am more worried about your dline then your oline...
