Herm Edwards and Merril Hoge both predicted Manning to Miami on Nfl Live.

We can only pray.

The more I hear it, the more I really don't like the idea. I think it will ultimately set us back a decade. I mean, we are essentially buying Dan Marino's last couple of years. Oh, but coming off an injury we're not sure he can recover from. Then we're right back to looking for a franchise qb. But also, we'll need to start replacing guys like Long, Bell, Marshall, Bush, Davis, etc, either to age, injury or free agency.
I'd muchh prefer a young, healthy option that still has the bulk of his career in front of him. Need only to look at Favre and McNabb to see where this is going.

While just about everything about Manning to Miami makes sense, and while I truly think Miami is the best situation for him, I'm not going to believe it until I see it. In fact, I still doubt it. I don't know what it is, maybe it's too good to be true. But I have a feeling we won't see him here.

so if we get a young qb . these things wont happen? why not get a proven qb to go with these players in the prime of their careers?

I say go all out for a QB. Sign Manning and still draft a QB.

If we do get Manning I'm pretty sure we'd still draft a QB at some point......I just hope we don't take a QB at 8 that's not worth taking there....I'd take one in round 2 if we move down and get an extra 2nd.

Ozzy rules!!

Probably just setting us up to be a laughing stock. Way to early to be reporting which way Manning will go.

True, but if we hit on a young qb, you have settled that position for years to come, so you can restock positions of need a couple at a time on a yearly basis. My point is, even if Manning is healthy, you haven't solved that position for the future. You are guaranteed to have to address the qb position again in 2 years, along with the others.

Imagine if we had taken an old, elite LT in free agency when we took Jake Long - we'd have had to waste more draft picks already to address that position again.

Its going to happen......Manning to Miami along with Reggie Wayne.

I don't see how this sets us back for a decade. IF he's healthy he will make us an instant title contender and probably would give us 2-3 years of play. That would give us a few years to find a qb to groom to take over for him. If he isn't healthy that's a whole different story, so the doctors better not botch this like they did Drew Brees.
