He's been coached up pretty well. Like A-Rod, Jeter, Tiger. They learn to talk and say nothing. So they don't get in trouble or put their foot in their mouth. May come off as sounding stupid, but from their standpoint they never get themselves in trouble.

Okay, maybe it's just me. But, here's the first thing I thought of when I heard the story.

A Heisman winning, nat'l championship holding QB decides to go bact to college. By doing so he passes on the opportunity to be a lock as the 1st pick in the draft.

He does this to not pass up on the "college experience"???

I'm sorry, but this guy is being paid very well by the boosters to stay in school. You just don't go back for ballroom dancing.
 
The guy had a chance to go to the NFL and be the first overall pick, and get 50 plus million dollar deal, it seems like he had, or was very close to graduating, so I can't see that being an issue to stay in the school. For those to say he is in it for the Sport of the game, and not the money, is a false statement. I think this guy is clueless. He loves the Cali life, well, he would have more then likely been playing in Cali. To turn that down is almost like a no brainer, almost shows he is clueless.
 
He is one lucky dog. Life must be really, really great and easy for him right now. He will soon learn how life will be hard once he enters the NFL.

Quite possible. However, a couple of the interviews I've seen that were not so football-related ("personal pieces", they're sometimes called) also hinted at a kind of general cluelessness mixed in with ****iness that turned me off to the guy. It's not just WHAT he was saying, but the body language and everything (like he couldn't - and didn't - care what else was happening outside his own little world). I started wondering if this guy would ever be able to command respect from other adults, much less NFL veterans seriously committed to accomplishing one thing: reaching and winning a SB.

Without turning this over any further, for the record (should Miami even be in position to draft the guy), I think it's possible that Leinert could be another Ryan Leaf in the making. One word: immature. And it's NOT about him being young or anything. It's about his CORE PERSONALITY being that of guy who has known too much success too early in his "career" and who, when the chips are down... turns into a little punk... and folds.

Hey, I know I'm being hard on the guy. But I AM POINTING OUT that it is all conjecture. I don't know... I'm guessing. Call it a gut feeling.

im not so sure he is clueless. majority of us do believe he was crazy not to the enter the draft & be the 1st overall pick but maybe there is more to it than just $. maybe he trying to help USC three-pete (if they do, is USC going to be the 1st school ever to win 3 back to back championship?) & make history in the process while sky-rocketing his worth. yes, its a big gamble but i believe he still can be the 1st overall pick & make more $ than Alex Smith if he has an above-avg season while getting USC to a bowl game.

There's little gamble for him. First of all, he has a rather serious insurance policy should, God forbid, anything happen to him. Million$ insurance policy - we're not talking GEICO here. So that's smart right there (though not necessarily HIS smarts - manager/parents/etc?).

Second, he comes from money.

So... money is not the issue in any of this.

Threepeat, yes.
Postponing the grueling work/life required of all NFL players... possibly.
One more year as THE MAN on campus. Priceless.
 
i only took 3 classes my senior year, but one of them was just a one credit science lab... so it was really 2.33 classes

Not that it's a competition or anything but I can get beat you there. Only, I'm talking high school here.

There are 180 days in an academic school year. My senior year I missed 43 of those days and left early (cut) almost another 60. How I graduated is still something of a mystery. But, hey, I went off to college and finished with a double major and even graduated with honors. Talk about your miracles.

If he's a fifth yr senior he should have come out this past season. When QB's stay for their final year, it is usually to finish up their 4th yr.
When you have had the success that Leinart has had you don't need to stick around.
It doesn't matter if you were redshirted or not IMO. 5th yr seniors usually stay because they missed a yr or two of productivity and want to improve their draft status. That is not the case with Leinart and it makes me wonder what kind of competitive drive he has.

He is NOT a member of the miami dolphins. Hopefully he will NEVER be a part of the miami dolphins. So this loser does not need to have a topic in this forum. unfortunatly they don't have a "massively overratted players" forum but still this does not belong here.

oh that's even better. cake classes as a senior in highschool is where it's really at. i had two classes my last semester of college, and so i was forced to get a job.
