ESPN: "Should the Dolphins trade down?"

No way do we trade down. This what has killed this organization trying to get bargains instead of trying to get the best player available at the highest possible draft position.

That logic works for NE and Bellicheat, why couldn't it work here?

Getting multiple draft pics allows you to either get more players or have additional pics to use as trade. Now I'm not saying trade it all away but stockpiling pics by trading back has worked just not here....yet.

unless somebody unexpected falls to us at 8, i think trading down and picking up a 2nd rounder this year (or a 1st next year) would be the way to go (especially if we didn't have to go down too far). we need a RT, safeties, TE, QB, pass rushers...

No. It's time this team start drafting quality over quantity. Keep the pick and take an impact player, because we have very few of them.

Dolphins need the best players they can find. Isn't that what Philbin said in the presser? I'll agree with trading down when we win a few division championships. For now trade up , bpa , or fill a need other than QB. Thank you. PS **** ESPN.

Jeff Ireland is the only guy that gets fleeced when trading down.

If they like Tannehill take him at #8, be a man, take him and sleep in your bed. Enough with this lack of testicular fortitude this organization has shown over and over again.

All is going to depend on a number of different things. What we do in F/A, who's available when we pick (someone who we want vs. someone who somebody else wants), and what teams are willing to pay for the spot. I'm ok with trading back if we get a pretty good deal, but if there's a game-changer in a position we are looking at filling, then I don't think I'd trade back. Big difference between plugging a hole with a need versus a game-changer. While drafts are always a risk, nowdays it's easier to know the true players who can change your team.

Well there is one trade down scenario that no seems to be thinking about, a trade down and player swap. You don't necessarily need to pick up the extra 2nd of you trade back and get the right player thrown into the trade down.

In the free agency period Miami is going to try to sign a) a qb b) a safety or c) a pass rusher and you still need to fill one or two of those needs in the draft but Miami also needs a right tackle, guard, linebacker so if you traded back and grabbed a guy to fill one of those three positions you can still get a quality pick for either a, b or c filling three of your six needs by one FA signing and one pick/trade down.

In that scenerio I am OK with Miami trading down it is the smart thing to do, some place right around 14th to 22nd would be nice.

Was thinking similary with the Bengals, but what do we get back from the Bengals other than swapping from 8 to 17? a 2nd?

Also if Tannehill is a real target, I'm not sure he makes it past Seattle at 12, the Seahawks have a RB, solid improving defense, and if Sidney Rice is healthy, a decent set of young WRs, in that division they can be a QB from competiting even with the 49ers, even if they "reached" for Tannehill at 12 it would still make them better, Tannehill's talent and upside is better than a Tavaris Jackson or Charlie Whitehurst
A fair deal could be to swap 1st round plus getting their 2nd this year and 3rd in 2013.
Another option is they gave up a 3rd round plus Jermaine Gresham.

I think we should draft Richardson if he is there at 8. He is one of the best players in this draft. With the #8, you do not draft for need, you draft the best impact players available. Trading down constantly is why we have a roster devoid of all-pro players. We have a roster of very good players, no stars. I want a beast (Richardson) alternating with Bush. With Manning, Marshall, Wayne, Fasano, and Clay we will be able to score on anyone in the air or on the ground.

dont the bengals have two first round picks?, grap those two get a DE, RT and a future QB, manning and a couple free agents and wham

Yes they do but i dont think there is any chance they give the Dolphins both especially for a running back

Ah another absolutely ridiculous thread with a bunch of completely insane scenarios.

Two firsts for #8? Seriously?

Atlanta had to give up 2 firsts (although one a year later) as well as a 2nd rounder to move up to the 6th spot in this past draft.

Regarding the Bengals; 2 of their biggest needs are guard and runningback, so if Richardson or Decastro are still on the board at the 8th pick it's not out of the question to think they would give up both firsts to move up.
