ESPN "Not High" on Fins Offseason..........

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2796894

This is why I actaully hate ESPN. All these "experts" and half of them actually know nothing.

I actually think you all are making the right approach and finally rebuilding the right way.

Much like Marv did last year. Get out of cap issues and work on building in the draft.

Unless you are a team making "Big" moves ESPN slams you.

Stay the Course Fins and Fin Fans. And soon it will be Buf and Mia battleing for the AFCE

Buffalo winning of course LOL......

well its teh truth. we STILL DIDNT SIGN ANYONE YOUNG ON DEFENSE and pretty much we didtn even SIGN ANYONE THIS YEAR. more 34 yr old guys and in there 30's cuz the mid 20s cost about what? in the MILLIONNONNOSNJFONSDF range and miami isn't willing to spend that money. Watch for Adams or Anderson to be our guy if htey are on the board if we dont move up for Quinn but i honestly think Ginn Jr is our guy b/c look how into stallworth they were and no ones near stallworth speed wise but Ginn jr.

Most of that is opinion reporting..... Creating controversy and saying supposedly "shocking" things is good for ratings???
It gets tiring.... Salisbury says some things that are worth hearing other times its annoying and you just roll your eyes

Slamming?

Sure we have an aging defense. But ESPN doesn't know enough about sports to understand that the Phins do have players like Matt Roth, Channing Crowder, Jason Allen, Travis Daniels on that side of the ball with i pretty solid potential.

As for the QB problems. I dont know what you can suggest. Jeff Garcia has never played effectively outside of that Marty Morningweg offense, and he's pretty aged himself. Kerry Collins, Brad Johnson, Jake Plummer, Harrington back? All serviceable players, nothing gamebreaking. It's probably better to take the approach they have, hope Daunte Culpepper is healthy, give Cleo Lemon a shot in his familiar offense, and probably draft a QB or pick up a cheaper veteran later.

You don't get young studs in FA

You get them in the draft, and we have added three draft choices so far.

That's how you get younger.

we only have 5 players on defense 30 or older...

taylor, thomas, traylor, porter (by the time the season starts), spragen (if we bring him back)

our entire secondary is young as hell... and our defensive line is full of young backups and roth who is now starting... is 4 out of 11 starters over 30 really make a defense old?

Need a Tissue?

Wasn't it just a week or so ago that John Clayton voted us as having the 3rd best offseason? I agree BillsFan, I hope we keep stockpiling picks and build through the draft. Who are you guys all hoping for to replace Willis? Lynch, Chris Brown? Just curious.

First of all the Bills will not be batteling anyone!
Second I wouldn't say they were slamming them they are just stating the obvious. Our best D players are ZT JT and JP all 30 or older and I don't know about you but people get older as years go on. So they are aging. And no one knows about Culpepper. So no slamming there

Who cares what they think. It's all about the "splash" and how big of one a team makes. Part of what he says is true (about CPep), as he is a big ???? going into the 07 season. If we do nothing else at that position and rely on him being healthy, our season may hinge on his ability to be effective or not. As far as the defense. They've been saying that for 7+ years now. Funny, we and other 30 something defenses keep seeming to be in the top tier d's every year. As far as the Bill / Phins at the top . . . . I'd be for that (only other way around) rather than the Jets or Pats. Really developed a real dislike for those two teams over the last 20 years.

Can someone post the article...I cant access espn.

This is the way we need to do it in order to get out of salary cap hell. Cam is an offesnive minded coach which is why we havent made many additions to get the defense younger. Its because the defense is good for another few years but the offense needs to be addressed. Another reasn why we have released so many offensive players and kept the defense largely intact. Did you see the contracts that are being signed for slightly above average players. Leonard Davis contract...Oh my god! eric Steinberg...Oh my god! None of these players are worth anywhere near what they are getting paid...

Our offense is now, for once, the primary concern andthe defense second. Just wait until we are putting up 35 points a game

Lot of speculation in Buffalo that if Peterson Slips to 7 that we will trade up to get him. If not Talks about Lynch at 12

or Pittman/Bush in the 2nd and the 1st next year ised to find that Back in a Talented RB class.

I am not saying we will this year. But look Bills are in the 2nd year of rebuilding the correct way. As long as we keep drafting well we will be contending soon.... Sorry if you do not see it that way.
