At least it isn't something stupid with having Favre, Elway and Manning (yet) over Marino.

No list like this is ever going to be perfect, but this is one of the better ones I've seen.

It's really not bad, but I am afraid I still have to take exception to Brady, if the Pats don't have such a good FG kicker for their 1st 3 superbowls, it's a good possibility that the Pats have a very hard time reaching (let alone winning) those superbowls.

This year Brady is loaded with talent at QB, and the patriots are stumbling into the Superbowl. You give Marino this type of talent, each game in the playoffs is a blowout.

The stat that has made Brady look better then any other is Superbowls, take away those superbowls, he is not even talked about, and Bradshaw won 4 of them, and looks how severe the hype on him has fallen. If the Pats lose this superbowl, I give Brady maybe 2 years before he is below Marino again.

How can you call 18-0 stumbling into the superbowl? Im not even a Pats fan! And you cant go back and say well if he did'nt have this player than that would have happend because football is a team sport and teams win superbowls not just one player, would you criticize Montana for playing with Rice or Jordan for having Pipen come on. Make a better argument you sound foolish when you write stuff like that.

People fail to realize that Montana was a system QB. I think he is the only one thats atoo high. I would go:
1.)Marino (yes, i know i am biased)
2.)Unitas
3.)Brady
4.)Manning
5.)Montana
6.)Elway
and so on...

List looks reasonable, with 3-5 being interchangeable to some degree.

Is there a distinguishable difference between the greatest "passers" of all time and the greatest "Quarterbacks" of all time? If so, this list could use some re-tooling.

The rules have changed. You have to have a "Greatest Modern QB" poll and a "Greatest Old School QB" category to be able to fairly compare QBs IMO. If you want to say that Tom Brady is better than Dan Marino was, fine. Keep one thing in mind, though.

- Dan Marino threw for 60,000+ yards and 420 TDs in his career, during which a "five yard contact rule" wasn't around. This basically tells you that defensive back could ride a wide receiver's back all the way down the field, so long as the ball wasn't in the air. It was much harder for receivers to run their routes and much easier for defenses to disrupt the timing of an offense.

- Another little thing for you guys to think about: Since the beginning of football, fans saw a quarterback throw over 40 touchdown passes in a single season on two occasions, both times by Dan Marino (correct me if I'm wrong, plz). Now that the NFL is trying to appeal to the general public and not true football fans, you have seen two people break Dan's record of 48 touchdown passes in a season within the last three years. People want to see scores and excitement when they watch football. So, the NFL has changed its rules to allow for more scoring in a game. Another example would be referees being more lenient on holding calls. You all know that when a DE is held when he's rushing around a tackle, it gives a QB that little bit of extra time he needs to find an open receiver and get the ball out of his hands. What do you think Dan would be capable of if he had that extra time and his receivers were allowed to run around and not be touched?

Dan Marino is the #1 QB of all time in my book. The only knock I have on him are those commercials that he used to do, although he might have redeemed himself a little with the Nutrisystem commercials. They weren't too bad...

OVERALL

Dan Marino
;)
Joe Montana
Tom Bradys
Peyton Manning
Steve Young
Johnny Unitas
Brett Favre
John Elway
W.Moon
S.Jurgensen

There is my top 10.

This is a good list.....just switch #1 and #4 and it will be perfect.

I think the list is actually pretty reasonable (even if 1 and 4 are swapped!).

i'd need to throw myself up in it somewhere due to my leadership at the helm, back-to-back championships with a high percentage of completeions. my great arm strength with top velocity and impecable percission. come back from behind victory i jsut had in our Turkey Bowl to this past thanksgiving.... oh baby, the reels are overflowing my shelving units.
