ESPN's J. Clayton : Answers On Ricky......

Been out for a few days but I like to hear what Clayton says... His show with Salibury on Sat. ESPN radio is good.

So who do you believe?

John Clayton at ESPN:

Q: Will the Dolphins have the cap room to take him back?
A: No problem there. Excluding the recent deals for wide receiver David Boston and nose tackle Keith Traylor, the Dolphins have more than $6 million of cap room. They can sign their draft choices and take back Williams without releasing anybody. Remember, Williams is only going to be paid for 12 games, not 16.

or Jason Cole at the Herald:

The Dolphins are approximately $7 million under the cap for next season, according to NFLPA information. However, that figure doesn't account for how much the team figures to spend on the players it drafted (approximately $4.5 million) and other costs incurred when all teams must set their 53-man rosters in September.

The Dolphins figure to be about $1 million under the cap once the season starts. But if Williams counts as $3.7 million, the Dolphins would be forced to either restructure his contract, cut him or do the same with other players.

Funny how two guys who make a living off of this can come up with such vastly different conclusions on something that should be pretty concrete.
