Of course the Fins got murdered ranking them 29th in the entire league in power rankings and saying that we have too many moving parts in the coaching staff this year to do anything meaningful. A lot of blah blah blah. Anybody else see it? They said that the Jets are in the best position to challenge the Pats though even with Brady's suspension they expect N.E. to finish #1.

The outside perspective is that there are a lot of unknowns on the team.. regarding coaching changes & what could be considered "lateral moves"...

I don't necessarily feel that way, but could see some viewing maybe [ alonso, maxwell, mario williams ] as lateral. I could see outside sources viewing the offensive line as injury prone, and the core of the team and front office really not very different.
When you dont get better you get worse, i guess, is the logic? I dont blame them but i do disagree.

Until this team wins, this is what the national perspective on the Dolphins will remain... I don't blame anyone for thinking we'll suck again. Go out and win for once. I'm sick and tired of being a ****ing punchline.

I like being the underdog with talent. Anyone think the media would have ever ranked Detroit 29th in the league when they had Suh? Exactly.

We are kidding ourselves if we don't think there are going to be growing pains. However, when the media picks us to do well, we stink it up. Maybe now that they say we stink, we will do well. :-) Crazy logic, I know, but hey I am a beach bum. The sun has probably baked my brain a bit much. ;-)

Lazy reporters continue to trot out the same old tired storylines. Hopefully the team can gel quickly during training camp and take some huge strides between the first and final preseason game and come out of the gate strong. Many people are talking about how tough the schedule is but I see that as just an easy excuse if they come out weak. We now have a relatively young team that has a lot to prove to not only themselves but to the league and the Dolphins' fans that have all but given up on the franchise. We hear the same crap on this message board about how the players, the ownership, the front office and everyone else that has anything to do with the franchise suck and how they will never be any good. It is time for this franchise to take the steps to becoming more respectable and shutting down the critics.

Everyone talks about how the Patriots have "owned" the Dolphins in recent memory but, if I recall, we have gone 3-3 against them over the past three seasons and we are the reason they weren't able to host the AFC Championship game last year. And this has been with incompetent coaching. Now that we hopefully have a solid coaching staff in place and Ross has stopped trying to achieve the "Hollywood Dream" and is allowing the football people to run the operations, I expect to see a lot more out of this team. I expect them to not lose all but one division game. I expect them to EARN the respect on the national level. And I expect the team to identify some leaders that will hold the rest of the team accountable and to be able to push each other to get better every single game.

I agree Miami has a LOT of questions, whether injuries (KA, OL), potential injuries (Ajayi), previous bad seasons (Williams, Maxwell), new staff, new players, blah, blah. And I understand skepticism. Nonetheless, assuming all these questions will be answered "no" is a little unrealistic. And I expect a lot of bumps the 1st 8 games as the team gels and gets experience. That's the harsh NFL truth. Still, I don't expect Miami to be 29th at season's end. I see a lot of talent. Can they avoid injury and can Gase get the talent to show up on the field? THAT will determine ranking. It's up to Miami to change perception.

I think the moves are being dwelled on but I feel the real improvement from this team comes if the offensive line stays healthy and tunsil is as advertised on game day. We were a different team even under failbin when healthy. Add the big three back and add tunsil I think that's the biggest factor. If Alonso maxwell and Howard play well, they will be eating more then crow. If the line falls into the unhealthy status again it won'tatter how Alonso maxwell Howard or Williams play for that matter

Brady will still likely play 12 games(if not 16, that issue isn't over yet) so NE should still be the favorite. after that it could be anyone, I favor Buffalo as the 2nd place team but I hope I'm wrong obviously.

Every year people bitch about what the media says about us before the season starts and every year the media is closer to right than we are. There's a better than decent chance this team will suck this year. A ton of unknowns and a rookie coach, not exactly the recipe for a contender.

Didn't see it but I can't disagree. I don't know if they're the 4th worst team in the league but they do have tons of questions that need to be answered. It can go either really well or really poorly.

We'll see in 2 months.

I think we're being underestimated but any fan who thinks their team is really ranked 29th in July should probably just not bother watching. Right now fans of 32 teams should be optimistic as
we've seen for years that if things break right anything can happen. When you really think about it our team was in complete disarray last year and won 6 games. The feeling within the locker room had to be they were playing for a lame duck coaching staff and really had no chance right out of the gates. That should all be different now. I expect the fins to have a very good offensive football team in 2016. This should, I stress should, be the best blocking, pass receiving weapons and system Ryan Tannehill has had to work with in his NFL career. Barring key injuries I expect him to be really good in 2016. The defense worries me a little more. I think the front 4 will be really solid but will those old ends break down as the season goes on? Wake and Williams are no spring chickens and they will be the key to our pass rush which could be the key to our defense. The back 7 scare me a little, there's talent but lots of question marks. Hopefully we aren't susceptible to short quick passes a la the entire NE offense. What I'm hoping for (pipe dream probably) is Dion Jordan gets his head on straight and contributes on obvious passing downs. Yes, that's my highest hope for him. We'll see but I'm feeling pretty optimistic right now but one big injury can change that pretty quickly.

Exactly, let everyone actually believe that garbage, and hope for some quick easy wins early. Unfortunately teams that have played Miami know very well that they are far from 29, and if Gase is the real deal, expecting to see a team ranked 29 will be a huge mistake.

29th is ****in BS. There are not only 3 teams worse than us.

teams that played you last year know how bad you were last year, this year is a different year. Teams change from year to year quickly, we'll see what they can do.
