Good afternoon everyone: :dolphins:

Just saw this article by Len Pasquarelli on the ESPN site.

Here's the link:

Apparently, Saban is taking it easy on our Vets to make sure that they dont get injured in Camp. This is a total reversal from the old JJ and Wanny regimes which made Camps a living hell for our players. It was more like boot camp than training camp in those days.

All and all IMO I feel that this will help to keep our players fresh for the pre-season and upcoming season. Players such as Jason, Kevin and Zach will benefit greatly from this kind of camp. And the can ease into the season without getting injured. Good job Coach Saban!!!

As always, please read the article and provide your feedback freely....

Gooooooooooooo Phinsssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!

you'd think it would be the other way around since Wanny has a reputation of being a players coach and Sabab is known as a hard***

What???....

Jimmy was tough, but Wanny ran one of the most lax camps I've ever witnessed.....

There's no way Saban is going to get loose, and allow these vets to get complacent after the run we had at the end of last season. No matter if it's one a day, or two a day practices, Saban will push these guys to their limits on the practice field....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Saban knows what he is doing.

why is it non sense... the point of camp is to get players learning and in good physical condition before the season starts and overall prepare the players for the season... not kill them and see who can survive... killing players in camp is non sense. Blitz i can tell your an oldschool guy, but i played ball for 10 years and the harder the camp didnt mean the better we played during the season.

What Saban has done to practice is streamline it. It is not a cakewalk by any stretch of the imagination. There is just no unnecessary crap being done, every player and coach is required to run to their next station. I remember while watching Dolphins Insider last year, hereing Saban dress down one of the Assistants for walking on the practice field. He was really yelling at him and telling him NO ONE! walks on his practice field. Kevin Carter stated that it was the most grueling TC he had been through since he became a pro. EFFICIENCY, is the operative word for a Saban ran practice.

Saban is god

I think that the practice philosophy is changing in the modern era of the NFL. It seems as if more players are working out at professional facilitys or personal trainers from college and what not during the offseason. This means they are coming into training camp already in good physical condition. It seems many players do not need the harsh two a day practices that cause so many injuries. We'll see how ready they are when the season starts. At this point the veterans are the most valuable at defense and we shouldnt take that lightly.

As for our coaching situation, I supported Wanny for all the years he was with us but Saban may turn out to be one the greatest coaches Miami has ever had. He has completely turned around a struggling franchise. I love this man. Saban learned from Bellicheck and will soon overtake all records Bellicheck has set.

I agree. I don't know where that perception comes from, but Wannstadt repeatedly made TC easier on his players. He was not nearly the taskmaster JJ was.

Thank you Blitz and Amen.

He's running camp pretty much the same as last year. There was a pretty extensive article in one of the papers about his approach. When he got here, he consulted with a nutritionist or an exercise physiologist on how to maximize performance and minimize fatigue given the South Florida conditions. They concluded that players performed at their peak when they had two nutrition/hydration periods between practices.

Hence why the two-a-days alternating with single practices the way they are. After a morning practice, players get lunch and dinner before the evening practice. After the evening practice, the players get breakfast and lunch before the next day's afternoon practice. After the afternoon practice, they get dinner and the next day's breakfast before the morning practice.

I also think they only put on the pads for the single practices. For the two-a-days, they just wear the shells.

Good read, thanks FinsFan71.

Remember, it's not about practicing hard but practicing smart. Gotta love the Saban.

There's a difference between getting lax and working smarter.

Nick Saban is a huge advocate of working smarter. He details this philosophy in his book, "How Good Do You Want to Be?" I recommend it for any Dolphins fan.
