8. Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots, Sunday, Oct. 8 and at Miami, Sunday, Dec. 10
It's surprising prime time didn't pick up either of these games, but the second game in Miami should on NBC's radar to move to prime time. The Dolphins have a chance to take the division away from the Patriots. Nick Saban pulled nine wins last season from a team that didn't have a lot of talent and made the best of having Gus Frerotte at quarterback. Now, the Dolphins have Daunte Culpepper and a month of the regular season to get him ready for the Patriots game. Saban and Patriots coach Bill Belichick are friends. Saban learned the NFL under Belichick. He's building a similar team and he has had one of the best offseasons. Still, the Patriots have home-field advantage in their first meeting and need to take advantage of it.

I'm stoked that the December game is in Miami. Think back to how many times recently the Dolphins have had to go to New England in December/January at near the end of the season. Last season, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000.....

It's nice that the media is actually paying attention to the Phins now but hopefully not too much. I'd still like Miami to be the underdog that no one pays attention to.

"[Saban]'s building a similar team and he has had one of the best offseasons."

Whereas so far, Belichick has had one of the worst. Grammatica for Vinatieri? Caldwell for Givens (not to mention Dwight and Fauria)? Signing Tebucky Jones while losing McGinest, Chatham and Ashworth? This next season should be interesting.

What about our opener against the Steelers? Ohhh by the way, the papers here in Colorado said that the NFL wanted the season opener to be the Broncos playing at the Steelers to open the season (a rematch of last year's playoffs) but Pat Bowlen turned the NFL down. Sounds like Bowlen was scared.....I am glad Huizenga agreed to it. We will take on anyone, anywhere, anytime.
