Great column by Ethan Skolnick of the Sun-Sentinel:

Daunte needs to realize that acting like a pouting prima donna doesn't exactly endear him to other front offices. This will make two teams where he has totally burned his bridges and under two well respected offensive coaches. His best bet is to work with the Dolphins to go to a place where he can succeed, such as Jacksonville, where they have a good team in place and two QBs in Leftwich and Garrard who won't be there much longer.

I still dont see what wrong with garrard or leftwich

Ethan is great I've spoken to him a couple of time and he's got get info.

Can Ethan please tell me who there two great offensive coaches are?? Brad Childress in Minny, who was basically Andy Reid's clipboard holder while he was the OC in Philly. Coincidence that after Reid called the plays for all 6 years that Childress was there, that he turned over the play calling to the new OC last year? Also, Childress after taking over the Vikes last year, turned them from of the best NFL offenses to one of the worst and was frequently criticized by his players for his unimaginative play calling.

Is Cameron really a well respected offensive coach? Seriously, how much intelligence did it take to tell the QB to hand off to LT 30+ times a game? Not to mention, after going 15-1 last year, Cameron decides to not give the ball to LT in the decisive 4th quarter of their playoff game.

Perhaps it's not Daunte who is making himself look bad, but the Phins for bringing in a guy to play QB, putting him in before he was healthy and then dumping him without a fair chance to win the job.

Hmm burned bridges with two teams? As if he was ever going to need them or play for them down the road?

Sorry I don't see that as anything more than bashing Daunte for doing the exact same thing Trent Green did. Daunte just happens to be his own agent and everyone here harbors bad feelings towards him over something he couldnt controll.

Yes he is a well respected offensive coach. Don't take my word for it, ask some NFL front offices. And by using your argument, I would assume that Don Coryell wasn't a good offensive mind because he had Dan Fouts, Kellen Winslow, Chuck Muncie and and Charlier Joyner, and the same with Bill Walsh (Montana, Rice, Taylor and Craig), Mike Martz (Warner, Faulk, Holt & Bruce) and others.

And if you fully blame Cam Cameron for not giving the ball enough to L.T. in San Diego's playoff loss to the Patriots last year, you haven't been watching football very long. That was pure MartyBall. Much like Dave Wannstedt would have done, that's how Marty Schottenheimer wants the game to be played in a tight playoff contest and pulls in the reins on his coaches.

And Daunte wouldn't have won the Dolphins starting QB spot this season (even if he was healthy, which he is not), simply because he's not the type of QB the coaching staff wants here (not Cameron's fault -- he inherited Saban's junk). Cameron wants a smart QB who makes good decisions with the football, and that is not Daunte. When healthy Daunte got by on his tremendous physical skills, but when he faced good defenses (see any of the games he played against us) or complex defensive schemes, he struggled.

So try to understand that Coach Cameron and Mueller are trying to do the best thing for this team right now, which is get some value for a seriously injured player. Daunte Culpepper is trying to salvage his career, which nobody faults him for. What he should be faulted for is the myopic and immature way he is pumping himself up and refusing to work with the people (Randy and Cam) who control his destiny. He could work with the Dolphins front office to send him to a good team, but rather than do that, he's trying to play hardball with them when he has very little leverage.

Yes, burned bridges. It's about how you handle yourself and how that reflects on you as a professional.

Trent Green never said, "I will block any trade you try to make with another team. I will force you to release me." That is what Daunte is doing.

He did block the Chiefs from trading him to anywhere but here.

Hating Daunte's actions is a double standard.

How some people fail to see the clear difference, and I mean CLEAR AS DAY difference of how Trent Green helped to facilitate a trade from KC compared to how DC is acting out of revenge to deny any chance of a trade at all absolutely astounds me.

The funny thing is that if DC stands put he'll most likely end up screwing himself most so have at it Daunte.

Remember that DC did a lot to facilitate the trade to the Dolphins in the first place.
