Given six years I spent on the Dolphins beat, I shouldn't be surprised by anything at all. Admittedly... I'm baffled by Miami's GM search.

Dolphins had a nice piece of waterfront property on the market, but even people with waterfront property require proper realtor to sell it.

Nothing against Dennis Hickey, either. He's taking over nice nucleus, a talented QB and a good salary cap. He might be fine. Total unknown.

Didn't Darlington wax poetic how the GM job was a great one and the Fins were going to "take their time" finding the right guy? Brutal.

Jeff may feel like he has egg on his face after defending the Dolphins search for so long. And, really, he is an excellent journalist but he was the only one defending the process. He probably felt like he needed to say something in the wake of this cluster ****. My guess is that he will be less apt to defend the Dolphins going forward after getting burned on this one, for the sake of his own journalistic reputation.

Jeff was initially right that the gm job was an attractive job. However, once the candidates realized what the power structure was gonna be they ran for the hills.

Darlington is awesome. He did a nice sales-job up front about how we are a great destination and a sought-after GM job. Everything he said was correct.

He didn't address the dysfunction of the front office because Ross is too clueless to know what to do he instantly vilifies his own locker room, admits he had no idea how football players talk, instantly taking one guy off the team before any investigation and picking sides with the guy who started it all. He is a PR disaster because he is so clueless ... he was even once ready to compare Tannehill as a rookie to the greatest ever QB's ... no unnecessary pressure there! He also stopped short of claiming we were competitive for a Super Bowl ... the guy is simply clueless about football and about interacting with the media ... why would we expect him to be better at managing a sports team's front office?

He empowers a coach that the GM can't replace, then he puts an attorney on at least even if not superior level to the GM ... one that who got the last GM fired and coach retained. And, surprisingly, none of the good candidates wanted the job. Hmmm, imagine that.

I think Darlington is out of the loop now that his leak in Ireland got fired.

Hayden, what does one thing have to do with the other? Theres no realm that exists wherein a great idea can be followed by terrible results?

This is why people label a lot of you- and not you per say but using you and this as an example- simply as haters. You make connections where there are none. You pile on crap for the sake of piling on. And thats when you get labeled.

Why cant it be that the decision to conduct a thorough search was intelligent only to f@ck it up by making an offer to a GM that even the public speculated was using them for leverage?

In a haters world, it cant be both.

I'm guessing he'll be labeled as another hater in the media spewing lies on twitter too...

How can you be a hater when he follows the facts?

The problem I have is with making judgments before the actual facts are known. It's irresponsible.

It's remarkable that there are any people left that still have a positive view of this mess. Most of the traditional optimists have even jumped ship. Just waiting for Jesse Agler to blast this joke of a team on his way out...

Where are they, Skape cuz all I see is bashing myself included.

What Im saying is the game plan was a good one and then they threw yet another interception.

Unbelievably, there still are a handful left out there. I've seen at least 3 people on FH defend the Dolphins today

Nobody wants to live on waterfront property if it means you have to deal with a pain in the ass, insufferable HOA.
