Even Zaslow thinks the fans are over reacting..

What has Matt Ryan proven? Tell me that! Look at the playoff appearances. Is there a SB ring on his finger?!? NO!! So, if there is no ring, this is a moot point. Neither Jake Long or Matt Ryan has gone to the SB and neither has even gotten close enough. So when Matt Ryan makes it there and wins then you can use this tired excuse that Long over Ryan was a mistake. Otherwise, your point is useless.
Where is Drew Brees' rings in his first 7 years? Where is Rivers' rings?

So, you don't see a difference between 4 straight winning seasons immediately following several godawful ones before he was drafted and 3 straight losing seasons with Long. Alrighty. You clearly don't have a clue.

Yes every time. I consider Davis a shutdown corner. I consider matthews an average back unless I'm missing something. I didn't say we don't need a franchise qb but I don't consider Ryan a franchise qb. Let me put it this way, I will guarantee atl doesn't win the sb with Ryan as long as Ryan is there. Take it tO the bank. You also need much more than a good qb to win sb. Didn't we have Marino all those years? How many sb's did we win?
Do you know who Clay Matthews is? I've never heard a 24 yr old DPOY called average before.

Comparing Ryan to Marino in an effort to discredit him? Ok then. A lot of things have to fall into place to win a championship in any sport. Marino made us relevant. Made us a contender. All during a ground and pound era. If he played in this pass crazy NFL, I think he would have picked up at least one title. Pats made the Super Bowl solely because of Brady.

My bad. I was referring to Ryan Matthews. Clay matthews is a diff story. I agree with you on clay.

Ah, gotcha. Sorry, I should have been more clear. Davis was still a good pick and I think he is still growing as a CB. Matthews is a beast too. Can't complain. It would be a different story if we picked some cornfed over Davis or Matthews.

Who is Zaslow, and why should I care?

He's your typical Miami Dolphins hater, as the original poster said. If he thinks it's too much already this lends to the notion, in fact it's enough already.

The dolphins have only had two winning seasons out of the last eight years, including one season with a 1-15 record. We went through five coaching changes (Wannstedt, Bates, Saban, Cameron and Sparano), and now we're on to the next project coach Philbin. During that same EIGHT years we've suffered through TEN below average quarterbacks in Henne, Thigpen, White, Beck, Lemon, Culpepper, Harrington, Frerotte, Rosenfels and Feeley. HOW is that even possible to go through TEN quarterbacks in EIGHT years???? On top of all that the Dolphins have wasted countless draft picks by trying to pick up the unknown gems, made numerous boneheaded trades, and overall stupid decisions. They've lost countless games due to bad coaching, and suffered through ridiculous ownership decisions like changing the fight song, getting celebrity ownership, celebrating other teams players in your own stadium, selling rival teams gear in your stores, etc etc etc. If Zaslow doesn't understand why us Dolphins fans are frustrated and upset, then he simply hasn't been paying attention to whats been going on down in Miami. There is a reason all the reporters and players are talking smack about the state of the Dolphins. It's bad. But i say to heck with him anyway, as fans, we've earned our right to complain. In the end, despite our complaining, we're still here and we're still cheering on our Phins, stupid decisions and all.

GO PHINS~!

Yeah he does, he's one of you ppl.

Never understood the whining, moaning, hating approach to being a fan myself. But to each their own.

Go to the Dolphins website and watch the steven ross media availability video... at around 10 minutes they ask Jeff Ireland about addressing the quarterback position. The next question of course is about how he is under fire by the fans / some media.

However his answer to the question about the quarterback position makes so much sense it makes me honestly wonder why so many people on this board are mad at him for no reason.

The Brandon Marshall trade which outraged so many people is also explained in the video...

As well as some people getting mad because we didn't trade up for RG3, or some people saying free agents don't want to come here.

Our new head coach has a VERY GOOD reputation around the league, which is where it counts. Not one player's freaking twitter page.... this team is headed in the right direction for the first time in about a decade or more. Our free agent signings have been outstanding in the last 2 years. Our drafts have been very productive since Parcells left. A lot of people don't care to remember it was him who wanted us to waste a 2'nd round pick on Pat White.... I doubt Ireland was really on board with that.

One more thing on not trading up to get RG3... Let's say he plays as well as Cam Newton did this last year or maybe even a little better. Look at the Panthers record last season... they weren't exactly dominating people. And yet they had a #1 overall QB playing for them and playing as well as a rookie could hope for. Giving up two 1'st rounders and two 2'nd rounders for RG3 wouldn't have been worth it for our team, we need those picks to fill a lot of other holes. Honestly I don't even like the move for Washington, since I don't think they are just a quarterback away from being a great team. I think RG3 will have a bad first few years until the redskins get him some more talent on offense to work with. Like maybe when they have a first or second round pick in 3 years...

Do you not realize that their 6th option would fare as our first option in this offense?

Let's not forget that Matt Ryan lost in the playoffs to the eventual super bowl champions the last 2 seasons. The 2010 Packers and 2011 Giants were not chopped liver . Marino in his prime got blown out in the playoffs playing against worse (not to compare Marino to Ryan here but you need to put things in perspective).

ATL has had winning seasons every year and they're respected, while the Dolphins are viewed by everyone as a laughing stock

What would you rather have ??

The Falcons today are what the Dolphins were with Marino. Could make the playoffs consistently but did jack when they got there. Marino didn't win many playoff games over the final 10 years of his career, to be sure. And if he won one he and the Dolphins would get blown out in the next round. And in embarrassing fashion,

Who's to say if he came here that he wouldn't have won a playoff game or two by now in the AFC ? IF we had competent coaching and not that band of misfits then surely its more than likely he would have

Hell, at least Ryan is leading them to the playoffs every year and their fans have 100000 times more to cheer about & to look forward to than any miami fan does
