Evening Camp Report

Alabi and Mormino still w/ 1st unit. That was it....................wow that was in depth. Can I apply for this job?

Gonna call it a night? Sounds like he left practice out of boredom

i guess they are taking a long look at alabi and mormino, they know what hadnot and sheldon can do

the one thing i was disapointed to hear was how ponnie got slobberknock to the gound for no gains. this could be the john avery here. sorry dude but i dont see ronnie as that superstar runningback that we are paying high dollars for. but i will lay off the guy because its still early but know this , i am officially concerned about Ronnie though.

Yeah it must be Ronnie. Couldn't be that he is facing a top 5 defense. It couldn't be that the oline is a weakness for this team. Couldn't be that two oline starters(Hadnot and Shelton) keep working with the second team. Nah, it has to be Ronnie.

Based on that camp report it sounds like Truck is still winning the trench wars with Satele and our guards somewhat. Truck hasn't been in the NFL til age 38 for no good reason. Believe me, if 340 lb. Truck Traylor hits you hard you are going to go down pretty quick. It doesn't matter who is carrying the ball. Truck is a beast. Imagine if he did that to say Reggie Bush or Leon Washington or something ... "jacked up" city man. Pain. Truck is a good name for him. When he gets up some speed and hits you, it's like a Mack truck.

I think there's a lot of running backs who would have problems running on our #4 rated defense with rookies with only 3 days of practice and guys who haven't been established starters in the NFL.

Gotta admit, Coach Houck and Cam still have a good bit of work to do with our Olinemen before they're "ready for prime time". Dline is one of the strengths of our team. If our Olinemen can start winning the trench wars with our 1st team defense, they are going to be very well prepared for the season. That would be awesome if they did. It takes time to get your Olinemen gelled and up to high levels though. I hope they learn and get up to high levels soon. I'm sure you'll hear about plenty of big runs from Ronnie as training camp goes on.

If Ronnie can get 157 yards on the Chicago Bears like he did last year, he can do it again ... hopefully in a lot of games this year. Ronnie can't do it by himself though. No running back can. LaDainian Tomlinson would tell you that in a heartbeat. LT has like 3 Pro Bowlers on his Oline, a Pro Bowl tight end, a Pro Bowl fullback, and a Pro Bowl QB. Believe me, that makes a huge difference.

A RB getting "slobberknocked" for no gain has a lot more to do with the offensive line than the RB's skills. Ronnie has the tools. What he doesn't have is the blocking. If you read the blog it also talks about the D-line getting a lot of penetration on passing plays. You can't do anything if you can't block.
