Every day our uniforms look better

I understand people who do not like the new Dolphins uniforms; I respect their point of view, as I can understand why some might not like them. But, from a pure design standpoint, they are much, much better than the awful new Jags and Bucs uniforms.

The Jags uniform wouldn't be that bad if they fixed the awful two-tone helmet, but my goodness have you seen those Bucs uniforms? The absolute worst I have ever seen, and I've seen some Oregon Ducks football games.

The thing that blows me away is the digital alarm clock font on the jersey numbers. I don't even understand how that's a real thing. I thought it was a joke at first.

When we have to console ourselves by having a uniform better than the Jags and Bucs -- the latter in particular looks like a pee wee uniform sponsored by Dunkin Donuts -- that just goes to show how meh everyone is on them. And for good reason, our uniforms are a great big bag of meh. I can't look at the logo without thinking about Awsi Dooger's phrase "motion sickness".

What's so odd about this is that the Jags and Bucs had two of the better uniforms out there. I liked both of them better than what we've been sporting since 1996. But it's like someone was on a search and destroy mission in both franchises, looking for things that didn't make people want to gag (and therefore didn't belong).

I'm not gonna bitch about our current unis. They're not bad. They're not great. And for that, especially with the way Nike is raping designs today, I'm thankful.

But if I had my ultimate wish, the unis we wore vs Dallas on Thanksgiving in 2003 would be our standards that we wear all the time. Best Fins unis I've ever seen.
 
Yeah those numbers are brutal.. So honestly, you were serious when you asked this question?
 
The Dolphins uniforms have grown on me. I don't think that Bucs uniform would EVER grow on me. That brown with the random bright red thrown in everywhere... what the actual **** was the designer smoking when he came up with that crap.
 
The weird thing is that the Bucs had one of the nicest unis and helmets in the league before these abortions were unveiled. What was this change for?

They look like a design done on a Sinclair Spectrum computer in 1981, predicting what the future would look like. If Buck Rogers played American Football.....
 
Agree with Fin Thirteen...the bucs were the only team I thought had a better logo/uni combo than ours. Now their jersey makes me try to slap to top of the helmet to hit snooze.

Nike almost ALWAYS trends futuristic. I can see the board room meeting:

Bucs exec: is that font an digital clock font?
Nike exec: ummmmmmm why?
Bucs exec: we have a pirate theme.
Nike exec: oh...pirates used to, uh, carve things, you know, in wood with this font.
Bucs exec: REALLY?! I had no idea!
Nike exec: yup. Alarm clocks totally stole that from pirates.
Bucs exec: pirates are the best.
Nike exec: Aren't they? We prefer to be paid in cash by the way. Good day, sir!
 
Much as I hate our new uniforms and others hate Tampa's, in the end it doesn't matter because it is all one big moneymaking scheme to sell jerseys and they will be changing again in the not too distant future. I can wait a bit until ours are more eye catching again.

If Nike was going to destroy the Bucs uniforms, they should have at least went with pirate numbers.

All of the new Nike uniform designs are ****ing terrible. I think that's really the point I was trying to get at in a roundabout sort of way. We lucked out that ours is the least terrible.

I didn't like the Seahawks unis at first, but now I kind of like them. I still hate the ugly ass grey they use for no reason, but I like the way they have the green thing on the sleeve that kind of looks like an eye. Still a tad too busy overall, but it was one of Nike's better redesigns. Dolphins and Vikings are passable. The Jags and Bucs are pure trash.

I think the main thing that I hate about Nike is that they try to make these unique fonts for the numbers that mostly look like cheesy crap. Also, they tend to introduce at least one design element that looks unbelievable tacky in an effort to "stand out" - the half gradient Jaga helmet, the Miami tramp stamp, the Bucs huge helmet logo and chrome grill...
