Man! With BAL negociating with Ray Lewis right now, which will cost them a lot, and then to turn to Terrell Suggs, who may be the one franchised...brings me hope that maybe, just maybe, Jason Brown is allowed to test the market.

I mean, I was thinking...the fact that BAL has a late 1st round pick and that they will have the opportunity to draft one of the top 3 C's in the draft: Max Unger, Alex Mack, or Eric Wood...is starting to make me think that there actually may be a possibility that BAL may entertain allowing Brown to hit the market in order to be able to re-sign Lewis and Suggs, who will cost a pretty penny.

Of course, they can end up re-signing Lewis and Suggs and franchise Brown, or franchise Suggs and re-sign Lewis and Brown...but everyday that passes and we get closer to that Feb 19th cut off date brings me just a little more hope. :hump:

same as Aso not being tagged but the *******s tagged him last of of eligiblity last year so expect the same for those 2 again.

You have to wonder if they can afford him if they are willing to pay Lewis top dollar, Suggs will also get top dollar and Landry or Leonard will get paid. Brown will command top dollar for a Center so we'll see how many dollars are left over.

Is Brown really going to command top dollar? I thought he was kind of a guy who'd fly under the radar since a guy like Matt Birk is out there.

Suggs said he's trying to convince his fellow Ravens LB's to take a paycut and return with him, but i doubt that happens.

Ray Lewis said himself he doesn't play at a discount so he doesn't/won't get paid at a discount!

Birk is an old man who plays real good football still and Brown is entering his prime years playing at a high level. I can't imagine him signing for cheap especially when there's a bunch of teams looking for a Center....Buffalo,Cinci,Pitts,Jack and us to name a few.

Adding him would allow a new outlook on the draft for day one...completely. But he will be a pricey free agent to sign.

I just don't know if he is...

The next big free agent player not to live up to the contract.
or
The one that got away b/c of all the other free agent talent that a team has still to sign.

But I would rather sign him than draft a center...

If that guy doesn't get resigned no worry Parcells and CO will be first in line to sign him. Parcells wants a top notch center but isn't willing to use our first rd pick on one. I totally agree

I agree, I say if he isn't resigned, give him the money! It will fill 2 big holes for us. Gives us a starting center and lets Satele become depth on the line. I would rather pay this guy than Dansby or Peppers honestly.

If you're going to shelf Satele (which I disagree with in the first place), I say do it right and bring in a Jason Brown. I would MUCH rather do that than draft Alex Mack or Max Unger.

It's a backward world when we get the kind of Guard play that we did from Andy Alleman and Ikechuke Ndukwe, and Samson Satele ends up being the fall guy.

IMO, this is just Parcells being Parcells. When a player shows weakness he likes to challenge them and find out if they're the kind of player that folds or the kind of player that fights back. Samson just went through a tough sophomore slump that featured him playing with a torn labrum and next to waiver wire scrubs, struggling mightily against the likes of Haloti Ngata and Vince Wilfork (the second time, Samson handled him the first time). Time to get tested. This is why I think you hear all of this talk about Jason Brown, Alex Mack, Max Unger, etc. But in reality I would be very surprised if we signed Jason Brown, and shocked if we drafted a Center at #25 overall. I think much more likely is we'll take a guy, let's say in the third round, that can play Center or Guard, and announce that he'll compete at Center. Then we find out what kind of player Samson Satele is.

Agree 100%. Satele has been unfairly maligned IMO. He was a promising rookie center one yr ago and now all of sudden he's a peice of junk.
The guy still hasn't even reached his peak yet.
I love how some of his detractors keep mentioning how Wilfork handled him in the 2nd matchup, but conveniently ignore how Satele manhandled Wilfork in game 1.
I have yet to see any C handle Ngota one on one. With a guy that size you almost always see a double team

I think it's odd you think Satele is being singled out as a "fall guy" when we all watched the guy get shoved around the pocket like a rag doll. He was thrown aside so many times last year it's no wonder we had no running game to the inside. He's simply too small to play the C position. Especially against 3-4 NT's.

We all watched the games, we didn't all see the same things. What I saw was a guy with a torn labrum struggle with crap to his left and to his right and nobody to help him. What I saw were dominant 3-4 NTs being what they are, which is to say guys who are a mismatch on just about any Center in football when matched one-on-one.

If a 3-4 NT finds himself single blocked by a Center and he does NOT handle him, he is absolutely not doing his job and is not worth two sh!ts in a cow field.

Ya'll hold way more things against a guy that had a torn labrum and got no help to his left or right than I am comfortable with. That's all.

It could be the injury that hampered Samson but at times he looked lost. He definitely didn't show the kind of strength that I believe he has.
