Everyone knew Tannehill was raw and would need time to develop

Why is it an oxymoron? Because a first year QB can't excel? And a second year QB can't show you enough plays for you to feel confident he's your franchise QB?

People said he has no receivers, ok this year he has receivers. Next.

No because you dragged last year into the mix,and you being the one 2 days ago not wanting the fans divided into 2 Tannehill groups seems to be hypocritically joining in the fun of the debate which I find odd.

ROTFL....I dragged last year into the conversation? THIS IS LAST YEAR'S THREAD.

I like how you ignore the part where he wants to play football for 15 years in that quote and then attack him for his plans into his 40s. Damn you Ryan Tannehill and your life goals!!!

The Tim Tebow comparison.... gtfo yo

I understand people wanna win now and that our little winning streak got peoples hopes up but we all knew he needed time. I'm sick of coming on this site and reading about how tannehill overthrew this guy or made a wrong read or whatever. The ups and downs were expected in august now in December he's supposed to be playing like tom Brady all of a sudden. He's a ****ing rookie who only had 19 college starts for crying out loud. People really need to get a grasp on reality and learn how to temper their expectations.

If you are satisfied with mediocrity, that's on you.

Yes, we all knew it would take time to develop Tannehill. We also have seen this enough to know what type of progression to expect, and we aren't seeing it. I continue to have hope because of the OL issues, but there are signs that he may not be doing that welll...regardless of the OL issues. The OL doesn't affect his reads...and his reads have not been great.

Since someone resurrected a thread from a year ago, this is a good reminder that excuses are being made then, and are being made now. The blame on receivers is the same, only now we've added the O line and Sherman.

Do I really need to explain the word "then" is past tense and you also are using the word " excuses" but then again you like Tannehill and you dont like the divided fans getting into a debate. Yet you joined the debate you are against.....

Now that is funny.

What's he going to say, I want to play for 5 years? In his mind, if the football career pans out, fine, if it doesn't, that's fine too.

I'm rooting for Ryan Tannehill, not just because I like the kid and he's a decent human being, but also because I want success on our team. So of course I'm on his side. But it doesn't mean I'm willing to lie to myself.

There were some big question marks for Ryan in the draft, from Mike Mayock and other analysts. With the inexperience, you're rolling the dice, you just don't know what you're getting. The stuff which protected him from criticism (rookie year, no WR's, inexperience), are increasingly slipping away. As time passes, we need to see more. We need to see "it."

Tannehill has incredible accuracy at times... I've seen him make throws that no more than 5 other QBs in the entire league can make.. he also has adequate arm strength (not superb but not weak). He also has great speed and elusiveness as a runner but does not use his legs like he should.

He needs to work on pocket awareness obviously... the clock in his head, ability to step up in the pocket, slide around to gain that extra half a second... he needs to learn to throw the ball away rather than take a sack. He needs to learn when to take off and run.

In my opinion the positives outweigh the negatives with him.. I think that with more development, as well as him working on his flaws, he could turn into a top 4-7 NFL QB.. good enough to get us deep into the playoffs. Not to mention our run blocking and pass blocking have both been atrocious.. that doesn't exactly help a young quarterback.

I agree the positives outweigh the negatives for Ryan. That's why I liked him from the beginning. He can definitely play in this league, especially with the need for quarterback a lot of teams have. Chad Henne is still playing, that should tell you something, and Tanny is better than Chad. The question is, what's the ceiling. That's what we don't know. Can he bring you to the Superbowl. Can he compensate for weaknesses on the offense, or is he the type of QB that needs a heck of a lot around him to win? If you're projecting him in the top 4, that's elite. So, no problem, then. My feeling is, he's not. If he works with someone on the off-season and really evolves in his game, then it's possible. Ryan needs intense work, and excellent coaching, and more experience. I'm a little doubtful he gets the first two.

It certainly would be a great story for the NFL though...player who wins academic awards, former WR, becomes an elite QB and wins the Superbowl.

I don't trust Jeff Ireland one bit to improve the offense, but we'll see.

This is the most accurate statement I have seen posted in my entire history on this board. Nobody with an IQ above 10 trusts Jeff Ireland to fix our offense.

Please tell me what throws Tannehill makes, that only 5 other qb's in the nfl can make?

lol..so I like mediocrity because I said tannehill needs time to develop? that has to be one of the dumbest things I've heard...
