Ex-RB Williams says GM Ireland was both brusque and pleasant

I never really embraced Ricky when he came back. Some things you never forget. I might forgive, but will never forget.

Whatever Jeff is he has had over 4 years here, and as of right now we still don"t have a qb, our o line is suspect, our recievers are average, and we still are weak at safety. If some of these things are not solved in the draft this year, he needs to follow the other clowns that have already left.

99% of all good business man or woman are like that. If you want to get somewhere in the business world you better be nasty or someone else is going to run you out of town! You have to know where to cut of the rope. In the nfl you are dealing with animals not humans, you are dealing with guys with no fear so if they see you with fear on your eyes, you are a dead man walking!

i believe a lot of the criticism of Ireland has been unfair. However he says he is not a recruiter and I think he sees his role as you do. I dont agree with you and him on this point. Free Agency is part recruiting and sucking up to these guys. (animals is way to strong) Ireland has to learn to be a big time businessman and adapt or get out.

The hating on Ireland needs to stop. At this point it is just petty and piling on. Jeff has question marks and his plan appears to not be perfect, but people are just piling on because they can. People are painting him as the worst GM ever in the NFL, but that is definitely not the case. There are tons of GMs in the NFL right now that I would rather have Ireland over them.

I have also loss respect for Sticky for giving an unbiased balanced opinion. Just stfu and go smoke your spliff, unless you have something positive to say of course.

This.

I disagree but understand your rationale.

I think when GM plays recruiter you get more of a salesman, like Jerry Jones, and some guys can't pull that off. Some people are not salesmen. A former Baylor kicker might not be able to pull off salesman, but he can pull off strictly business. And lots of GM's are just that. Just a difference in personality. I think Ireland just speaks bluntly and that rubs some players and agents the wrong way. But it is no different than several other GM's in the NFL.

I loved Ricky as a Dolphin and even respected his decision to retire, even though he screwed the team and the fans. But now he is screwing the fans of the Miami Dolphins again and he is not even on the team!!!! We already know how some players feel about Ireland and how the national media thinks the team is a joke. We don't need Ricky stirring the pot and bringing media attention back on the Phins FO. I just lost respect for him, for sure.
Because he answered a question honestly and you didn't like the answer? Okay.

Ricky and his wife lived in Irelands house for a few months once apparently. Don't think the guy is the devil some fans believe him to be.

I have no problem with what he said. Not sure why everyone else is getting their panties in a bunch about it.

For stating his opinion? What would you have had him rather say? "Oh, Jeff Ireland rocks because he thinks a helmetless Dolphin would look cool?"

Lulz.

Seriously. This sounds like a MoveOn.com forum with a thread about GWB, circa 2004. Dude's made his share of gaffes, but nothing serious enough to form a lynch mob over.

This is so far from the truth it is unbelivable. NFL players are still human and want to be treated that way.

They are human, but they also have HUGE egos. A nice guy in the NFL finishes last. Sounds like Ireland is doing the right thing, business is business.

And you are certainly entitled to your opinion. I am a CPA and have been involved in some pretty intense negotiations, the real good ones no how to lift people up and be tough at the right times. It bothers me that this may not be part of Irelands personality.

Actually, I don't mind what he said at all, it's when it was said that I find disrespectful to the FANS. In the aftermath of everyone else piling on. We, as fans, have to continue to listen to it over and over. It becomes nauseating. But Ricky needs to go on the radio and shove a bigger and blacker dildo up our collective *******s. Same **** he did when he first walked away from the Dolphins. Grow some balls Ricky.
