Ex-RB Williams says GM Ireland was both brusque and pleasant

Was this caffeinated or decaffeinated Wicky Rilliams?

He's a druggie with a psychological disorder that made him give up millions of dollars. Why would I care what that druggie has to say about anything?

It's very comical. That just means that they never had respect for him in the first place.
 
How many bosses are out there who are nice to you while you're doing your job and sandblast you when you screw up? Isn't that part of the boss's job description?
 
I like Ricky, probably one of the most intelligent, perceptive and interesting guys who've filtered through pro football in years. I used to listen to him on Sid when I could and respected that Ricky normally wouldn't let that inflammatory azzhole bait him into saying something he didn't want to or mean. So I do take Ricky's input as credible if not likely.

Given that, my dad alternated between brusque and pleasant as did several of my more cerebral, well-meaning early bosses/mentors when it befit the circumstances and contributed to my development. So in general, that's not a bad thing IMO. I have been in a business where communication is critical and it's almost funny how often I've perceived a disconnect between what the sender intended to send and how the receiver perceived the message. I suspect that may be the case with Ireland when it comes to tone of delivery and tact. That's never good but can be actively addressed and corrected; however if left unchartered, bad behavior only serves to reinforce itself. I'm surprised that King Carl has not stepped in to help.
 
I'm a manager and when a member of my team screws up who is responsible, I am...I can be a prick about it or try to motivate them by talking to them and letting them know how their poor performance effects the entire team as well as management, the latter works better all the time. If it continues i start the right up process and let HR handle it...

Ireland is just being a boss, my employees that keep screwing up like ricky eventually get blackballed and will be removed from team, boooho pothead..

No, he didn't have to lie. 'No comment' is a very nice way of getting his point across without piling on top of everything else. Geez, I'm not sticking up for Ireland. I think he is an egomaniac and he sounds like he is a true *******. But, we as fans have heard it all before. Do we really need to hear it again? From a guy who left this franchise in shambles (of which I feel like we've never recovered) to make a personal choice? Go play for the Chargers, Ricky, and keep your mouth shut about the Phins. We don't need it.
