Projecting the Dolphins’ 53-man roster is even more difficult than usual this season because they continue to pursue trades — including one for Houston Pro Bowl defensive end/linebacker Jadaveon Clowney — and figure to be especially aggressive in scanning the waiver wire for help on Saturday night.

Beyond the pursuit of Clowney — who met with coach Brian Flores and Dolphins officials — several veterans (including Kiko Alonso) remain available. As we’ve reported, Miami has never wanted to give up a premium draft choice for Clowney, but players likely would be involved in a Clowney trade. One view on where things stand with Saturday’s 4 p.m. roster cutdown deadline approaching:

Our cuts will be bubbly this year. Trades in play and lots of action across the final cuts and waiver wire process even early in the season. This roster is in a state of flux that will continue for more than 12 months easily.

Even outside of Clowney, there is a much greater chance that we bring IN players vice push OUT players via trade ….

I hope there's some o-line help on the way. We need a veteran G who can step in and play right away. Dieter's going to be a good one and I like Shaq also but 2 rooks make me nervous with the Raven's on the horizon.

I project we sign at least 2 Patriot players that are cut

I would carry Ledbetter he had some good moments leverage play wise vs the jags.

I’d be looking for my 7th and 8th o line off someone else’s cuts. But I agree prince and Sterup make the most sense to keep of the in house options

After a quick read on the Ravens pre season I’m not as concerned about there D, apparently are desperate for pass rushers.

I'm not convinced that Kiko is getting cut. He was one of the most prolific tacklers in the NFL last season. Yes, Baker is looking great and is the linebacker set for a great year, but that doesn't mean Kiko gets dumped. El Bravo #47 has had some nagging injuries, that's why he's been pretty invisible to date. Yes, we now have a different defensive system, but still need some depth.
