Finally a Miami sports writer with a brain.
Most fans don't realize how important the other 21 non-starters are on a football team.They provide special teams, playing fulltime when injuries occur, providing practice competition.
Last years those players were just awful.
Parcells is building from that point and upward.
The draft will provide another 3 or 4 starters and 3 or 4 backups.
The one certain thing about the NFL is total change from year to year- look at NO: terrible,playoff team back to average.
For 4 straight years the last place team in the NFC south has won the division title the next year.
Dolphin fans should be excited especially with the easy schedule in 2008.
 
I agree - tough to lose players like Zach and maybe Taylor but after such a horrible season - time to clean house and start again.

Hmmm - new favorites - Brown?
 
good article... I must say I dont agree with this though :

There has been nothing boring about this week. In fact, I would say that it has been among the most exciting 'round here in a looong time. The fact that we were so active in FA has made me a believer in the direction this team is going. Far too often, our past regimes seemed to think that we were one piece away from being a contender. It remains to be seen if these acquisitions will make a difference, but at least Parcells and Ireland are making the effort. Hard to get worse when you are 1-15.

Decent trade- plus a pick. Taylor has more value than an injued Sheppard.
The rumor is JT to Green Bay for a 2nd and 4th round pick.
 
Well every year it seems we get an article on the new regime praising thier logic. Last year was how adding Porter to our front seven would make us the best defense in the league. How we were taking our time in a mediocre free agency year. How Trent Green would be a great mentor for our rookie Qb.
THe same line about getting it in needing special teams players has been regurgitated for like the third year now.

The one thing out of his whole article that made no sense at all to me was how the signing of McCown dfinately ruled out drafting Matt Ryan (WTF). He did realize we had only one Qb on the roster and we had to sign somebody.
Im not putting down what we have done so far but there is always at least one sportswriter that does this everytime we get a new man in charge. Remember many people on this site were raving about the Cameron and Mueller decisions last year and most people were predicting playoffs.
 
Does JT still want to play? I thought that I heard rumblings that he may not want to be traded and may just pursue a career in Hollywood or something like that. I would take the 2 and 4 from GB before I would take the Lito trade.
 
So much for hyde's inevitable logic that Taylor will be traded lol.

Fantastic article and I thanked you for it. I really, really hope Calvin Pace picks us.

I am worried about spending the top pick on Jake Long, and am still hoping there is even a glimmer of hope left for trading down.
