Execute on P. Rivers

Yep I think were stuck with what we have for this year. I agree it would be to premature to trade Rivers untill they see what Brees does this season. I do believe that one will go next year. Who that will be depends on Brees. They would be crazy to trade Brees if he shows he's for real. As Dolphin fans we should be rooting for Brees to be the real deal. Because if he not then Rivers is their QB and Brees is a bust and then we don't want him at that point. Unless we are not poised for Leinhart I would do the above.

Rivers would be fine and dandy except for one little nagging fact. He will never be a succesfull NFL QB. He's not a franchise QB of the future. His draft position is NO reflection of his ability. His mechanics are terrible.

Just because a QB gets drafted in the top 5, doesn't mean he will be a superstar. Even if the opporunity arose to trade for Rivers, I'm confident Saban and the Miami scouts would do their homework enough to recognize that this guy will never make it in the NFL. Mark my words, Rivers will never be a great NFL QB.

and you thought Brees would before the year he had last year

I agree that we will probably have to wait until next offseason to get a decent QB. The more I think about it, the more I think the Chargers will keep Rivers and let Brees go, but Brees is still better than anyone we have right now.

I thought the Bolts went public last year, saying Rivers was on the trading block, I could be wrong. Either way, they are both looking pretty good but I would rather have Rivers. He is young and he has one of if not the best arms in the last few drafts

Brees will be a Free Agent next year and the Chargers wont be able to re-sign him. So we will have to bid for him

C'mon now. Undrafted, lowest Wonderlic-scoring, couldn't start at Florida, hated by Cane fans Brock Berlin is your contingency plan? Please.

I think we have a golden opportunity with the situation that's developing in San Diego. They have a first round pick backing up a young pro bowler. I'm sure the Chargers are open to trading one of them. The reason I say Rivers is because Drew Brees is establishing himself as one of the top QBs in the league and I think the Chargers would be willing to trade a player who has never started a game for them and who is unproven over a top 5 QB. You might ask "why would we add an unproven QB to our roster?" Who is proven on our roster? Atleast this QB has potential and youth, two things we don't have at his position.
ever heard of Brock Berlin? he has some potential and so far he has out played Feeley

Deep breaths, is Boring, Oregon really a town or a figurative place?

Yeah, but the town near by is even funnier, its called Damascus ...... sound it out real slow.

I have heard enough about Brock Berlin. The second we signed him as an undrafted free agent I knew this would happen. Once he looked decent against a junkyard defense people would be crying for him to start. Lets give him the start in a preseason game, if he looks decent then you can talk about him starting all you want. As of now, he is still a practice squad quarterback at best

Brock Berlin is not that good! Any Canes' fan can agree with that.

And the Chargers won't trade Rivers, but Brees maybe...Besides Rivers is already putting pressure on Brees to flat out take his spot.

Nobody liked Marinos mechanics either, yet he was awesome. And why would the Miami scouts think that he will never make it in the NFL but San Diego's would? Did you actaully watch any of his games from NC State? Ya know, its not always about having the perfect physical specimen with the perfect mechanics, football is just as much about the intangibles as the tangibles... I think you are absolutely dead wrong... I hope when Rivers proves you wrong that you are man enough to come back and admit that you didn't know what the frack you were talking about.

Actually I never formed any opinion on Brees, because I wasn't familiar with him. I spent the past few years watching NC State games, and well before the draft I formed the opinion that Phillip Rivers was a mid to late 1st rounder.

I just don't think he has the potential to be a great NFL QB.

But then again what do I know, I only said over and over that Big Ben would be the best pick out of that QB class.

While I COMPLETELY agree with you...

You obviously weren't here the year he was drafted and saw the man-crush the entire board had for the guy. I don't know what it is but every Phin fan for miles was calling his name.

And he is a top 4 pick so whoever said he is cheaper than drafting one next year isn't making much sense either???

I say wait till next year - we will have a top 15 pick and get a QB there.
