I still cannot post links but its in the sporting news homepage, this is what Sporting news says about Jeff Ireland:

2. Jeff Ireland, Dolphins: He and Parcells swiftly turned over the roster -- more than half of the 53 eligible to play on opening day were elsewhere in 2007 -- and changed the culture in Miami. Jake Long looks like a franchise cornerstone at left tackle, and fellow rookies Phillip Merling, Chad Henne and Kendall Langford have all flashed potential. Plus he kept the right vets (see: Porter, Joey), rid the club of others and acquired tone-setters like Chad Pennington, Anthony Fasano, Jason Ferguson and Akin Ayodele.

My thoughts are that he should be number one because he gambled a #1 pick on a LT, anybody could have picked Matt Ryan a look brilliant, Im sure not a credit goes to him since the big tuna is always peeking in on Ireland.

What are your thoughts?

I don't think they gambled all that much when they selected Jake Long instead of Matt Ryan with the #1 overall pick. By drafting Big Jake it solidified both OT positions and allowed the team to potentially select a QB in a later round. Besides, Parcells has never been one who have liked taking a QB that high.

Atlanta was in as big a mess as Miami was last year and the fact that they have a better record is probably the only reason Dimitroff is first and Ireland is second.

Doubtful. The Wilford/Crocker busts dont do him any favors, considering we had minimal FA moves.

However, NOT overpaying for Pace and Fabini is huge, i give him credit there. Also, not biting on Ocho Stinko is a big factor.

I think he's in the running. The Wilford pickup hurts, but, not bad. I don't credit him with changeing the culture. That comes from the Tuna. He's made more good moves than bad.

Something you should keep in mind is that the FO only had one off season to make all those changes, I still think that Z Thomas should have stayed but I also understand that he needed to be in a championship caliber team. Tradin JT hurt a lot for me, but they got great value for the future, and it seems that from the business point of view, they got it right with taylor.

Yeah that Taylor thing got messy, but it was the kid's fault himself. He was acting like a prick, and i'm sure he's probably having some regrets right about now.

He has to at least be in the running. Yeah he had a dud pickup in Wilford, but if thats the worst move he made then he has to come out looking like some NFL genius with the trade of Jason Taylor a move most people thought would immediately take this team out of any kind of playoff contention including myself. Although i thought it was the right move to make.

Well Parcells knew something about JT we didn't! He knew that his days of not being injured at all were over!

Lets hope we can use that Redskins 2nd rounder to pick up a solid CB or NT.

I think the Falcon GM should be number #1. Taking a Qb that high , picking up Micheal Turner was huge also trading DeAngelo Hall. Drafting a Qb is harder IMO then draft a OL when your in the top 5. Either way being 2nd is great too and I'll take that any year.
