The Dolphins have a few needs on offense -- a big play wide receiver and another dominant offensive lineman would be nice. On the other side of the ball there are a lot of needs. The linebacking group as a whole is very average, with the exception of Joey Porter. The secondary still needs a ballhawk, a pass rusher must be added somewhere and a nose tackle to eventually take over for Jason Ferguson is a must. I expect this draft to focus in a big way on defense. Here is a mock. Would love opinions.

1. Clay Matthews ILB-- Seems to be the consensus pick and he really does scream Bill Parcells type of player. I agree with those who say we would pick him to play ILB.

2A Jarron Gilbert DE/OLB -- One of the most intriguing players in the entire draft and a player who is on the rise. Very athletic for his size (6-5, 288) and could compete with Phillip Merling in the line rotation or perhaps slim down and play outside linebacker. Very dominating on his level.

2B Lawrence Sidbury OLB -- Very quick first step and possibly the answer as a pass rusher opposite of Porter.

3. Ramses Barden WR -- Extremely raw prospect who improved with good coaching at the Senior Bowl week. Would help immediately in the redzone, while he learns his craft. At 6-6 has the size the coaching staff is looking for.

4. Donald Washington DB -- I personally don't think Miami will wait this long for a corner, but Washington could be a steal in the 4th.

5. Terrance Taylor NT -- A tad undersized at 6-0 306, but could be the run stuffer Miami is looking for.

7. John Parker Wilson QB -- Played in a pro style offense at Alabama and is kind of a poor-man's Chad Pennington. It looks like the coaching staff isn't high on John Beck so bringing in another qb makes sense.

7. Londen Fryar CB -- Son of Eagles/Dolphins great Irving Fryar. Could step in and help out in the nickel packages.

7. Herman Johnson G -- A mammoth man who has absolutely no mobility at 390. I know a lot of people are projecting him as a 3rd/4th rounder but after watching him in the senior bowl I think he drops substantially. If, however, he can get his weight under control, Johnson does have a chance to dominate.

I expect a mostly defensive draft, but without Clay Matthews. I'd also expect an OL pick for depth at T, and maybe a KR/PR/RB guy in later rounds. Other than that, I wouldn't be surprised if we go all D.

everything is cool...but JPW is a scrub... and i know John beck is better than him!

Not bad, but Herman Johnson won't last until the 7th rd. John Parker Wilson? Just Plain Wrong. He can't carry Beck's jock. Everything so far points to Nicks or Harvin at #25, especially Nicks, so don't be shocked.

he is NOT extremely raw,the only reason he isnt a first round pick is because he doesnt run a 4.4 or lower. If you pull up videos of the kid, you'll see why NFL GM's and experts say he is anything put raw.

I like your mock. Defense is a big need. The LB spots need to be filled in. I don't care the Crowder was re-signed. He was only re-signed because it was convenient and he came cheap. Parcells loooves linebackers for the 3-4. Ramses is intriguing too. 6'6, 229 the guy is a beast.

Your mock looks pretty close to mine, but I have to say the Herman Johnson projection is pretty ballsy. I don't think he drops that far off the radar, I think it's possible for him to fall to the fourth round.

I had Gilbert in my mock at 2a before I finalized it, but then I decided to go with Sintim since he's already used to playing the position.

I do agree that defense will be emphasized in this draft.

I wouldn't complain if every pick in the draft went to the defense. In fact, I would probably prefer it as it's a much higher priority to get younger on defense then on offense. The Dolphins have the youngest offense in the league by a good margin.. If Penny gets hurt and Henne comes in, or whenever Henne takes over, then it will be an even wider margin.

But if an offensive player really drops far who they have much higher on their board, then use a pick for the O....... Like Merling dropped last year for the defense. Otherwise, just let our young offensive players develop together.

I expect Miami to draft 3 linebackers and two corners at least.

I really like that you have Miami taking two pass rushers early. Having a mistake free offense and a defense that can attack the quarterback are the best ways to beat the elite teams. The Dolphins are more than halfway there. As far as Johnson, now that he has lost a lot of weight (31 lbs I believe), I think he is closer to 3rd/4th round. I do think he is on Miami's radar.

Herman Johnson a 7th round pick....

1- C. Barwin

2A- Sean Smith

2B- H. Johnson

3- L. Murphy

4- J Brinkley

5- C. Baker

7A- Everette Pedescleaux

7B- C. Painter

7C- D. Washington
