I want to win today, but I'd bet money we don't. First, the game last week was 6-3 until Champ Bailey was hurt. You take a shut-down corner out of the game, and teams have to change their entire defensive scheme. If you can cover the other team's #1 wideout with one guy, then you can stack 8 in the box and shut down the run instead of double covering the #1 wideout with a safety. On top of that, Denver had one or two OTHER corners get hurt after Bailey.
Second, there are a TON of intangibles in the Jets' favor. First, they're at home. Second, they don't want to start the year 0-2 with an embarrassing home loss to us (their archrival) of all teams. Third, they're out to prove to everyone that last week was a fluke and that they're a much better team than they showed last week.
The problem this week is that if we lose, people will say, "well I guess they ARE the same old Dolphins," and they shouldn't. This game should not be as strong a barometer of how good we are -- there are just too many variables going against us here. Of course I'll be delighted if we win, but I'll be pretty surprised too.
