What player or should I say players in free agency excite you?
Who should the Dolphins target next?

Here is my short list....

Daniel Graham TE, he is the best TE out there and it would hurt a rival, why not.

Mike Doss S, this is the guy the Colts don't want to lose, why they didn't protect him is a mystery, maybe they think he will fly under the radar, I think the Dolphins could use him in the secondary for some leadership.

Donte Stallworth WR, he is a big target for our QB's and unless the have a Randy Moss trade in the works or can draft Dwayne Jarrett or Ted Ginn, he makes sense.

Dominic Rhodes RB, he was the Edge's back up in Indy and he did gain over 100 yards in the Super Bowl, he could really push Ronnie for some playing time.

todd johnson safety played for the bears has had a meeting with the dolphins would be a good signing, kevin curtis or donte stallworth now that drew bennett has been signed by the rams, also since we finally got rid of randy mcmichael eric johnson TE formerly with the 49ers.

Well I like Stallworth, but most likely wont be a Fin. Washington would be another one that I would like, or one of the wideouts from STL.

Ken Hamlin is way better than Doss. Stallworth would be nice, but is unlikely. BTW, isnt he kinda smallish? Curtis-again, nice but likely not happening. Dom Rhodes? Why? Anyway the G-Men are going after him hard to split carries with Jacobs.

Eric Johnson... the TE from San Fran... would be nice...

Did you say that Dominic Rhodes could challenge Ronnie? When is Ronnie ever going to earn some respect. The things he did last year behind our oline were just awesome. There is no reason we should even consider any running backs out there, Williams and Minor are just fine for the 2 and 3 spots.

The names I look at are Kevin Curtis, Ken Hamlin, Todd Johnson, Cooper Carisle and Mike Gandy. I would love for the last 2 guys to come in, we have to upgrad our line.

/Grade74/ Expert's Take- Hamlin is a hard-hitting tough safety who is one of the best in the NFL in his skill set. He shows good football instincts and has a knack for playing the ball in the air. Hamlin also shows good range and recovery speed off the hash. He is also a smart player who is able to make the calls in the secondary and line up players in position to make plays. He is very good with run support and will step up and make contact on running backs. He is not afraid to lay a hit on receivers coming across the middle. Hamlin is a solid athlete who shows quickness, body control, and outstanding range. He has the ability to play both a traditional free safety and strong safety, but he is better suited as a free safety. Hamlin does a good job of getting in the box and is productive in his pass rush and blitzing. He is a very aggressive player who brings a lot of energy to his play. He is a solid cover guy who can roll up and play effectively over the slot receiver. He plays well in the Cover 2 package showing good turn and transition coupled with smoothness that allows him to turn and run with ease. Sometimes he stutters in his backpedal, but not enough to be overly concerned about. He is an impact player who will help any team upgrade and solidify its secondary. With his leadership and play, he will be a highly sought after player in free agency.

Ruben Brown | OG

Full Name: Ruben Pernell Brown

Insider Analysis

/Grade 69/ Expert's Take- After being a perennial Pro Bowl performer for the Buffalo Bills, Ruben Brown joined the Bears in 2004 and remains a dominant player at 35-years-old. A physical freak of nature this extremely athletic 300 pound left guard uses great technique to win most of the battles at the line of scrimmage. Brown does an excellent job of resetting his hands after his initial punch to maintain inside out position keeping leverage with a solid base allowing his athletic feet to fend off pass rushers. He uses good angles, hand placement and leverage to help him win when drive blocking larger or stronger opponents. Even with his declining abilities due to the wear and tear of 13 years in the trenches, Brown shows fluid transition skills going from a combination block on the line of scrimmage to engulfing a linebacker in space on the second level. He has been incredibly durable during his career having started 181 games and only missing 13 games in his 12 seasons. Brown will occasionally let his understanding of the game and experience show and he will cheat his technique playing too high with his hands outside when he is backside and the offensive play is going away. At his age, don?t look for a rush of activity from other NFL teams during free agency but do look for Chicago to resign him as the starting left guard while the Bears draft and develop young linemen to learn from this old pro in the twilight of his career.

Sean Mahan | OG

/Grade 61/ Expert's Take- Mahan is a young, experienced player with good position versatility along the offensive line. He is a functional athlete with good quickness and control. He is a competitive player with good toughness for the position. As a run blocker, he has a narrow base with good initial quickness off the ball and into blocking patterns. He is a solid technician that understands body position and proper power angles. He has adequate play strength, will not get great push initially off the left offensive side but will drive his man off the ball while maintaining position. He has good quickness in his pulls both on short and long pulls. He can locate and find moving targets. He is adequate on the second level off combination patterns, has athleticism to play in space but need to do a better job anticipating flow and taking better angles on the second level. As a pass blocker, he can slide and mirror off short sets and maintains a good base. He displays good initial punch but struggles to reset his hands on upfield moving targets. He is not real consistent when maintaining the depth of inside pocket. He will get top heavy and overextend versus quicker inside rushers. He has good awareness and can adjust to pick up inside games. Overall, Mahan is still a young ascending player that could be a quality starter for some NFL teams based on his versatility along the offensive line.

Marc Colombo | OT

Full Name: Marc Edward Colombo
Born: October 8, 1978 , MA

Height: 6-8
Weight: 320 lbs.
Age: 28
Pos: OT
Experience: 5 years
College: Boston College
Drafted: Year:2002 Round:1 Pick:29, Bears
Insider Analysis

/Grade 64/ Expert's Take- Colombo is a five-year veteran who signed with the Cowboys in 2005. He is a massive tackle with long wingspan who knows how to use his arm length and size to his advantage. He is not the most nimble-footed athlete but does a good job of staying off the ground and on his feet. He has a tendency to let his base get narrow and will allow his legs to get straight, forcing him to reach and lunge to try and stay with his blocks. He has good initial quickness and can reach block to get in position to wall off and screen opponents from the play. Where he gets into trouble is against counter and back-under moves. For such a tall guy, he does a good job of playing with leverage and is able to get some push or movement on the line of scrimmage. He has had a history of missing time due to injury but managed to stay pretty injury free during the 2006 season. At 28 years of age, he is just reaching his prime for the position and should command a lot of attention as a quality starting right tackle

Ian Scott | DT
clear.gif
Full Name: Josef Ian Scott
Born: November 8, 1981 Greenville, SC

Height: 6-3
Weight: 302 lbs.
Age: 25
Pos: DT
Experience: 4 years
College: Florida
Drafted: Year:2003 Round:4 Pick:19, Bears
Insider Analysis
in-1.gif
/Grade 68/ Expert's Take- Ian Scott began the 2006 season as the starting nose guard but was eventually replaced with Tank Johnson and served in the defensive tackle rotation. Primarily a run defender, Scott does a good job of getting into his gap responsibility with his quickness yet he does not play as stout holding his position as his 302 pounds should let him. As an ascending player, additional experience will allow Scott to get a better feel when not to over pursue plays or get judo blocked out of position. Often stronger offensive linemen will push Scott past the hole making the interior susceptible to cutback runners. Down the stretch in the Bears championship season, this proved a liability as Scott was not effective stuffing the run at the point of attack. His athletic feet allow him to laterally stretch a play out allowing the linebackers to run and make the tackle. Scott does not bring much in terms of pass rushing ability with the exception of his quickness and relentless style of play. Scott does not play with enough leverage or power to push the inside, but possesses good hands and quick initial moves to get into proper position. He struggles to anchor the point versus double teams or powerful run blockers. Scott?s quickness serves him well when involved in line stunts and movement games upfront and his high motor will force his opponents to work the entire play. Look for Chicago to retain Scott for insurance and quality depth following the injury to Tommie Harris and the off field problems of Johnson. He brings versatility to the rotation and can play either nose or under tackle in the Bears defensive scheme. If the Bears must decide between Scott and Alphonso Boone expect Scott to get the nod due to the age difference and his solid upside.

Didn't we try to get Ruben Brown a few years back???

Marc Columbo would be a good OT for us.
