One can contest our signings thus far have not been overly "sexy" but they do offer solid contributors and ones in their prime of their careers as well. The only 30+ year old was Ferguson and he was had via trade.

Smiley, when healthy, is going to be a helluva guard for us for his entire 5 year contract. Starks, if he reaches his potential, could be a younger version of Ferguson. Wilford is exactly what you want opposite the slighter, smaller, faster Ted Ginn and will be no worse that a 3rd WR on this team. Tolber, I'm assuming, will be moved inside. Anderson and Ryan are likely core special teamers. And perhaps most importantly, Josh McCown, is seen as Tony Romo-lite.....until the "light" comes on and he harnesses his talent and applies it on the field. At worse, he's a stop-gap until Beck, Ryan or whomever Miami drafts at QB this year is ready to take over.

All in all, we signed 7 FA yesterday all in the primes (or just entering their primes) of their careers. Now let's see how this coaching staff does with them. Certainly, this team is significantly better (and how can it not be?) than it was last year and we're only into day 2 of the '08 off-season.

Go Fins!

You forgot to mention that we arent even done yet....I love the way we are reshaping our team with solid contributors that have a chance to pay big dividends. I cant wait until camp and we have ALL our new players ready to go....Im guessing about 12-15 new starters!

My waaaaay early view of our projected starters

Offense:
LT-C.Nicks (2b - draft)
LG-Branden Albert (2a - draft)
C-Satele
RG-Smiley
RT-Carey
QB-McCown
FB-Mauia
RB-Brown
WR1-Ginn
WR2-Wilford

Defense:
DE-C.Long (1-draft)
NT-Ferguson
DE-Starks
OLB-J.Taylor
ILB-Tolber
ILB-Crowder
OLB-Porter (Pace if he signs)
CB-W.Allen
SS-J.Allen
FS-E.Wilson (if signed of course)
CB-Chevis Jackson (4 - draft)

I'm counting 10 new starters, 4 on offense and 6 on defense. 4 of which willbe rookies. Perhaps a little overly agressive on that forcasting but it is early.

I think so far we have had solid signings. Now, lets just hope they can play on the field and not get injured in training camp or some other bs.

Tony Romo lite! Josh McCown is Cleo Lemon only 2 inches taller.

Romo was a nobody until he met Parcells. He had athletic ability (so does McCown) only. He learned to be a QB under Lee and Parcells. McCown now has that same opportunity. As I said, at worst....he's a stopgap for 1-2 years.
