I saw his release a few weeks ago and thought why not pick him up. I decided to research some of his physical and playing stats and now Im assured that he would be a great pick up.

He has only been in the league 5 years so is still pretty young. He has become a very dominating defensive tackle over the last two years and his size is very big. We could then go with another DT in the draft and have a pretty decent intertior line. He is 320lbs and 6"4 so he could be converted to a NT and even a 3-4 DE . He has good speed bursts and attacks OL with and intense nature. Here is a read off of GB players profiles.

What do you guys think about him as a pick up in FA.

He wasn't released and Green Bay might tag him if they haven't already. If for whatever reason they don't, maybe Parcells and Co. will take a look at him.

coming from wisconsin i have seen him play a bunch. He was a true force on the Dline. The only reason the Pack let him walk was they have 2 other guys with huge salaries. Ryan Pickett, and Justin Harrel. Deffinately a good player worth a look.

I doubt he is tagged the Pack have a ton of good Dlineman and like I said a bunch of money tied up along the Dline.

I think this is a must have....I live in Wisconsin and watch the Packers...along with the Dolphins with the sunday ticket of course...but this guy is impressive.

Sign him up, take K.Jenkins (NT) for depth aswell. C.Long in the draft and we've transformed our D-line in one off-season.

yea i think they are b/c they have 2 DT along with him making it 3 and they dont wna carry 3 guys with big contracts and one was a 1st rounder (harrell). WILLIAMS has been on my radar for the past few months. I really like this guy and getting him to pair up with Long for example would be nice.

I would love to have this guy. He's young, big ,fast for his size and someone we might be able to get at a decent price. He has recorded 7 sacks each of his last two years and would make a great addition to this team. Then we could use our pick for chris long and have a top dline next session.

Tagging him is an option, they have until the 21st (tomorrow) to decide.

Thompson could use the Packers' franchise tag on Williams by the Feb. 21 deadline, and said Monday he has not ruled out that possibility, though the $6.263 million tender would be high for a rotational player at a deep position. If the Packers don't sign or tag him, Williams becomes an unrestricted free agent Feb. 29.

"I'd say ongoing," Thompson said of the Packers' talks with Mitch Frankel, who is Williams' agent. "It's safe to say there were some differences of opinion of where it was headed. We have guys here, (pro personnel director) Reggie McKenzie and (personnel analyst for the general manager) John Schneider, that have touched base with all those (pending free agents) and certainly have talked to Corey's people and let them know we still like him and still would like to have him on the team."

If they don't, I would love for the Phins to take a look at him. If we are going to spend any money this offseason (I'm not for signing big name FA's this offseason) I would hope it would be on the DL. But we have to keep in mind that we won't be the only team looking to acquire his services and most FA's want to go to a place where they have a chance to win, leading me to believe that we would have to overpay for him.

i think will sign that nose tackle from san fran.i think his name is issac sopagoa.roto world thinks will land him for 5 years at 21 million.his a true nose tackle

Apparently they might tag and trade if they can't resign him(cap room).

The Packers conceivably could use the tag on Williams with the hopes of trading him so they'd at least get something in return for a quality player. The risk is, Williams would sign the tender immediately, which would prevent the Packers from rescinding it later in the offseason, and if the team couldn't work out a trade, it would have to pay him the $6.363 million this year.

i would prefer williams ive ben saying hes the big free agent i see us signing but he might cost us some serous money, becasue he can get after the qb and can play the nose but the dude from san fran would be good too

Packers named DL Corey Williams their franchise player.

This doesn't necessarily mean they'll sign Williams, unless he takes quickly puts pen to paper on the $6,363,000 offer. GM Ted Thompson will likely work to deal Williams before that happens. Williams can play end and tackle, and with 14 sacks 2006-2007, should at least command a second-round pick in return.

Packers | Team franchise tags C. Williams
Wed, 20 Feb 2008 15:04:41 -0800

The Green Bay Packers placed the franchise tag on DL Corey Williams Wednesday, Feb. 20. Williams can still sign with another team, but the Packers would have the option to match the terms of the deal or be compensated with two first-round draft picks.

Another one off the list.
