Not getting Calvin Pace aside, Parcells has hit on pretty much all of his FA targets thus far. All players are in their prime or about to enter them. They are core players this team did NOT have last year and many (Starks, Smiley, Tolbor) have potential to be very good. The continued maturation of last year's draft class in addition to the pending one, should have Miami looking to peak in '09-'10. The off-season next year or the the following is the time to overspend on FA like Pace, not this year. Good job Bill, keep it up!

I agree with you, as much as I would've liked Pace next year is definitely the year to spend more on those type of players.

I am happy thus far but would still like to see these positions addressed before training camp:

CB- Still need a shut down type guy to go with Will Alen

WR- Wilford was nice, good complement to Ginn, but I am not sure if Hagan will ever catch on or if David Kicus will stay out of trouble

QB? Are we going to get another vet or draft someone? Needs to be settled if Beck is the franchise guy now or what.

If free agency is going "as planned" then i hope the draft doesn't go anywhere near "as planned" because quite honestly i'm not impressed. I'm no genius talent evaluator, and i really hate to be second guessing Bill and Ireland already, but i really fail to see why people are excited in the players we've brought in thus far. Wilford is marginally better than Booker, McCown is what he is, Ferguson and Starks i sort of like, but outside of that?

I am Really Happy with our FA so Far some of my Fav we got so far are Smiley, Tolbor, Wilford, Starks i am happy with all are Picks but those are my 4 Fav not inculding the NT from Dallas

I think we will get a Corner like Cromartie or Antoine Cason to go along with Allen

I think we will get a WR latter in the draft i would like Harry Douglas or the WR from Flordia i cant think of his name right now i think it is andre Caldwell

I think we will pick up henne or Flacco in the 3rd round if they are still there

Justin Smiley is a solid player....

Pace was the centerpiece of Parcells strategy obviously...and that didn't work out. I hate to say it but I think Bill whiffed.

You mean 2nd round, right?

for what? Flacco or Henne i mean 3rd round if they arnt there then we wait tell later in the draft and get a QB there i personally dont think they are worth the 32nd pick and i would like us to get Josh Barrett with the 57th pick

I agree with spacemountain these FA signings arent to me anywhere on parwith what NYJ or Buffalo has done,I understand that miami is not looking to spend the 30 mil they had available but where have they gotten better?

Some might say ST ok maybe but truthfuly is Smiley that much better then Hadnot? who's gonna play LG?
Starks and Fergusen ok they might be an upgrade over Traylor and R Wright but where is the pass rush? maybe from the draft but if they go J.Long or McFadden then this team will be hard pressed to chase the QB.

Seems like we need to add an OT.

zach had too much $$ tied up, he is definately better than torbor. hate to see him go cause he was an excellent player, but from a business standpoint he had to walk. starks and ferguson we need, a 6th for a starting nose tackle i can take. i like fifita but after traylor, who is gone, we needed bodies at the nose. i hope for starks to bloom but will not hold my breath. pace can go pound that $20 million, its great for him he got it but i think we made a solid business decision not to give it to him. wilford i like, he is a solid pickup, i also liked booker but for the money this is also a good move. i believe in beck for the future and that is a long assss debate and thread of its own so it is what it is, mccown is someone to go to so i think we needed him and again cheap. i hope we draft another qb, this position can never rest and should continuously be invested in. smiley i like, hell maybe hadnot stays also, he's not a hot commodity. anderson is fine with me....all this is good to me, this is not the season we go all the way. we need talent in a lot of positions. i like to believe we have gotten equal or better talent for less ca$$$h,, the draft is yet to come, get psyched

i am very happy with Smiley!!! hope he is 100 percent though with that injury. he is a great linemen thats overly aggressive and locks on.

Torbor is extremely athletic, needs work on taking on blocks in my opinion though... he's a speed guy, very good special teams.

Wilford very pumped for too. he's a big target, that can stretch the middle too... a guy that will work hard with Beck to get consistancy.

Starks i glad we have, but he needs t owork and proove his value. he is a we will see in my opinon.

oops, i think starks is probably a 4-3 tackle and a 3-4 end, nose is possible but not likely
