Clark Haggans - Pittsburgh. He is listed as an outside LB, but at 31 he could be the stop gap if we decide to go that route. Plus, having experience in the 3-4 could help the transition for the younger players that will be on our team.

Brandon Chillar - St. Louis. Also listed as an OLB. Has the size (6' 3" 242lbs, might be able to gain 5lbs) to kick inside in a 3-4. Plus he is only 25. he hasn't played in a 3-4 but might be a nice fit.

Nick Greisen - Baltimore. He is a backup and ST player. Has good size 6' 1" 244lbs. He is only 28 and could be a nice addition to the team as a role player.

These are my three guys that I would be stunned if we didn't express some interest in. Their size, and in some cases experience would make them assets in rebuilding our LB core. If we truly plan to run a 3-4, then we will nedd many more of them, and soon.

All pretty decent players that are possible that we could consider

None of them will make you go.....WOW! But, they will al help IMO. plus we wouldn't have to break the bank, except maybe for Chillar given his age. Other than that these guys are decent players who will give us a nice baseline of talent of defense.

ya and in a 3-4 you can never have too many LB's. you have to have depth too.

Personally I really like Chillar as a depth player, and he may even make it onto the field. Specifically during our rebuilding phase - which may leave him the opportunity to mold into an efficient starter. I can't ever see him being a pro-bowler, but if he reaches his potential he'd be a solid starter on this team.

Keith Brooking might also get released and has the size to play inside in the 3-4...

Everyone has forgotten about Lance Briggs. The guy is a good player, but I just dont like his attitude or the money it will require to sign him. It also makes me wonder why he said he would not play for a 3-4 team....

you'd be stunned if we didnt go after a 31 yr old lb or 2 backups? i wouldnt be stunned if we didnt pursue them at all.

3-4 requires a lot more work from the linebackers. This will definitely hinder statistics of most. This surely makes me wonder about his work ethic, and if he is a team player.

I don't think anyones forgotten about him, especially with the cap space we seem to have out of no where, but rather we choose to omit him based on what you just said.

I'd love Clark Haggans though.

I'll support Haggans if he understands his financial value. Guy would be a great starter for a few years as a stop gap as draftees this year get developed. But I would really hate to see us dish out a chunk of cash on him, when he is really just a short-term solution, and really nothing spectacular. Just a solid starter.

Then please show me the list of guys you have with the size that we supposedly want in LB's. Also please find me some help in ST where many LB's will, and do play.

Sorry if trying to get depth on the team at LB where we will need at least 6 players stuns you. Especially when most of the guys we have are smallish, such as:

Edmond Miles 6' 0" 230lbs
Derrick Pope 6' 0" 232lbs
Kelvin Smith 6' 2" 233lbs

Spragan, Porter and Mark Washington (who)are the only guys on the roster at LB bigger than 240lbs. So what we are gonna draft all of them this year and hope it all pans out? Where are the LB's for this system gonna come from?

first of all dont take offense about my last post because it wouldnt be a big thing if we didnt even look at any of those guys. second of all, why would u be stunned if we didnt look at an old linebacker and 2 backups. you make it seem like the end of the world if we didnt look at these guys, all im sayin is there are alot of players out there.
