I live in Oregon, and watched Joey all the time in college, both on the tube and live at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. I thought he would be a good quarterback, despite the failures of other Tedford QB's. Obviously he hasn't done that well.

But, when I see Harrington I see Vinny Testaverde. Vinny was a high pick, sucked in Tampa, went to Cleveland played much better and then went on to have a couple damn good years with Baltimore and New York J... Vinny needed a change of scenery and so does Joey. I don't think he will be great, but I think he will show enough improvement to get us back a higher pick than we gave for him.

Still, bring on the PEP!

He just needs to keep this team in the playoff hunt until Culpepper can get back.

as long as Harrington keeps us above .500 i'll be happy. i mean, if we end up 3-2, or 2-1, or whatever it is before Pep comes back i think that puts us in great shape.

all good points, I just wanted to make a comparison because I am frickin boored and having a beer on Friday night.

Saban the stockbroker, buy low, sell high!

Hopefully Joey will work hard, play well, and in turn we can trade him to someone desperate for a QB next year, like say, Minnesota for a 2nd rounder.

I hope we go 0-0 with Joey as the starter

I really like him and think he has a lot of potential thats not been used yet, but....Id rather have Daunte in from game 1

Teste Verte? Vertical Testes? :D

Vinny "the INT machine" some might say. Won the Heisman Trophy, a Miami Hurricane. Man could that guy throw PICKS or what... still he was very very good, for a long long time. He also turned his career around. Yeah in Tampa 1988 he threw just 13 TD's to ... 35 picks.

That's brutal. However look ten years later, 1998 for the Jets - his best year, 29 TD's and only 7 INT's. By 2004 playing for the Cowboys had an "OK" year ... then was pretty bad last year for the Jets again, but he was over the hill anyway.

I don't see Joey throwing quite that many picks, sorry. Over the past 2 years he is 31 TD's and 24 INT's - however five of those came in one horrible game against Chicago. That 1 game was a TOTAL breakdown by the entire Lions team... I don't see that happening here.

I don't know about you guys but I feel a lot better knowing that we have a guy in camp that has had a few seasons under his belt and knows what it's like to play behind a line that is swiss cheese.Let us not forget that while we were making our worst season (4-12) Joey threw for over 3000 yards and 19tds with 12 int's.Not bad considering our team is much better and we won some games with a guy like Frerrotte who had his best season ever in our offense.I don't know why, but I feel pretty good about this.

yeah i agree harrington i rekon will show a big improvement playing for us and will be much better than what we have seen in detroit and u never know he may beat culpepper we'll just have to wait for the season to start
