I dont know where to begin.....I remember even after the draft things were bleak. Then all of a sudden Brett Favre signs with the Jets and C.P. falls in our laps. We suffered a heartbreaking loss in the season opener, and got stomped the following week.
Guys i dont know how the hell we made it here.
People were boasting about their bleak expectations and how we were going to have a top 5 pick in next years draft. Now, we have 8 wins. 8 freaking wins and just swept a division rival and knocked them down to below .500 and effectively out of the playoff hunt, while we are one step closer.
First i'm going to bring attention to somone who definatley deserves it.
Devone Bess is showing GREAT promise and performing way above the expectations that one would have of a rookie WR that was UNDRAFTED.
Despite the lack of depth that we had starting the season on the o-line, they have really begun to gel and show that even with 2 starters injured, the system prevails. And people dont really talk about how young this team is at that position, which underlines the growth potential that they have. Jake Long has been tremendous and i'm so glad we picked him over anyone else.
Pennington is doing a hell of a job for somone who was dubbed as "washed up". We now have a proven franchise QB for the next 2-4 years while our OTHER future franchise QB is developing and one hell of an insurance policy to have on your QB position. It took a long time but i think that all the Henne lovers will appreciate the fact that the rookie gets to learn under this guy. Pennington is still on pace for a career season with arguably the worst offensive personnel he's probably ever had.
Fasano and Martin are making crucial contributions when we need them to, and also doing a good job blocking in both passing and running situations.
Outstanding Performances From Recievers
We have shown that even with a lack of experience and depth at the WR position, we have players that can step up and C.P. can take full advantage of their abilities in the west coast system we run. Hell even wilford made a big 3rd down catch today. Ginn is making big plays and continuing to develop, and
Deadliest Running Squad
Early in the season, our runningbacks had major question marks surrounding them; ricky for his physical issues and the age factor, as well as being away from the game; ronnie for his career threatening injury that he sustained the prior season; and cobbs for the sake that the team let Booker and Chatman go. And now, I cant remember the last time i saw a Lorenzo Booker thread or Chatman thread. As for Ricky and Ronnie, they both have shed the question marks and emerged as the deadliest runningback squad in the NFL, noting Cobbs with a serious role as well. Not to mention recently aquired Lousaka Polite (yeah you bet i'm on this guys bandwagon. He's going to become what Rob Konrad should of have been - a pro bowl full back. With both starting runningbacks splitting carries throughout the season, it has helped them remain fresh and strong for critical late season games.
Looking Ahead:
Our division rivals, the jets, just gave up 2 back to back games.
The 49ers are the next home game and some fans are concerned, but rest assured i'm confident our team will have a HUGE advantage.
They are comming from the opposite side of america, and have sustained an injury to a key player.
Too much is at stake for what is most likely going to be the last home game of the season for the dolphins. Miami is going to show and play lights out.
But yeah we gotta keep it real and respect the fact that the 49ers could end our post season hopes. I think this is a great scenario for our team to be in. It's like the playoffs are already here with this "win out or go home" mentality thats afloat. Chad said it himself next weeks is the most important game of the season. These are the stressful situations where teams really come together and form an identity. Thankfully, so far things have been superb.
