In your endzone, stealing your points.
I've been a Dolphins fan all my life and have been an avid reader on these boards for the last couple years so I wanted to make my point of view, which is inconsequential as it is, known a little bit.
I believe that from the first pick, Jake Long, right down to the undrafted free agent, Jayson Foster, that we are moving in the right direction. We had* a fairly bad team last year and while I won't praise any one person in charge I do believe that a new concept was put into place that picks football players on the ideal that they are actually good at football players, not just fancy names.
I've been in the Army for 10 years this May and its a lot like the draft in a roundabout way. You have people join an organization and you don't know what you have around you until the time comes for the people to sink or swim. I fully believe that we picked people on the ability to earn their way, not be on a TV commercial. Hell even on the draft TV commercial with the top picks, while the other picks were gym rats in nice gyms and pulling sleds and such, it showed Jake Long outside pushing a tire and in a ratty garage lifting weights.
I will take someone willing to do everything it takes to succeed than a flashy name. This is why I have faith in the players we have picked both in free agency and the draft. I believe that every single person that reports has potential to be as amazing as Zach Thomas...undersized, undervalued, with a heart that never ceases to quit.
Finally I am excited for this season more than any other in the last 10 years. I'm not calling for Superbowls, Hall of Fame players, or even the playoffs..but I am seeing some great effort about to show itself on the football field. People may not enjoy my post or reply but I feel good having said my 2 cents.
Hopefully you enjoy the season!
(BTW My favorite picks were Jalen Parmele, which I called at work the night prior to my buddy, and Davone Bess whom I think is a solid wide receiver given the playtime.)
